Subscribe to RSSCHICAGO -- An Illinois teen who was injured in a shooting Friday is believed to have shot himself, officials said.
The 17-year-old boy from Elmwood Park was taken to Loyola Hospital in Maywood, Ill., with a gunshot wound to his left groin area when he reportedly told police he was shot by two men wearing ninja masks.
Police investigated, talked to witnesses and reviewed surveillance but found no evidence of the attack. The boy, who has gang ties, confessed that he was driving in a car and playing with a gun when it discharged in his lap, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Medical personnel said the wound reflected self-infliction and officials are working to determine where the incident occurred to determine which police agency has jurisdiction over the case, according to the Tribune.

Just as a historical side note: If you discuss ninjas with Japanese historians they will tell you that in all probability ninjas did not exist at any time in Japan. There were plenty of spies around, but they were usually cortesans who had married into different families for political reasons, or their entourages. There were frequent assassinations, but it was always easy to say that the ninjas did it and that no one saw them was absolute proof that they did it. Children were told to eat their supper or the ninjas would get them. But, unlike any other Japanese traditon, there was no written record of ninjas. Kinda like the boogey man.

1. Where did he get the gun in Illinois which has TOUGH gun laws ?
2. Why was he "toting" a gun ?
3. Was the gun stolen ?
4. Did the Parent(s) know he had a gun ?
5. Who else was "riding" in the vehicle ?
6. Was there evidence of "dope" in the vehicle ? Wait a minute.....'dope" ? Yeah, the one driving.
7. Was he married and have children ?
Moral to this story: Don't play with a gun while driving after you play Ninja video games.

As a long-time practitioner in the art, check out 'Bujinkan'. Ninjas were real. We're still around. Research Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi 34th Grandmaster of the 9 schools of the Bujinkan (Warrior Spirit Group). When you see someone in a movie shove a gun into their belt, either in front or back you have to remember that those are props, not real guns. Police and military carry their guns in holsters and thus don't shoot off their balls.
There is a type of holster that goes down the inside back of the pants but also it protects the trigger

What was NBC not able to find its "BAN GUNS" story of they day. They are normally much better at finding gun crime where it is not already illegal to have the guns. But of course they never publish the stories of the home invaders that were shot by the home owners protecting their lives. Gee there where 2 already this weekend and NBC is totally silent.
Harry Reid just banned an unconstitutional piece of bad legislation from a vote in the senate. Nobody's banning anything.

a teenage criminal has a gun when its illegal for him to have it. not only that chicago has strong gun laws. this is your future if you agree with a weapons ban. criminal teens running around armed while law abiding citizens are targets of opportunity. pass sensible gun laws like background checks and mental health tests.
They shouldn't discount the Ninja story so readily. I know of several Ninja groups that have hideouts in the hills outside town. You can tell they are rivals, one groups wears pointy white hats, and the other wears bandanas. Both are operating illegal Sake stills, and gorging themselves on wild mushrooms.

Pretty sure there is already a law in Chicago against a 17-year old possessing a handgun and playing with it while driving. Now, what additional laws would you pass that would have prevented that? And please don't say tougher background checks. Obviously, this kid did not obtain his gun through legal channels, as most criminals do not.

Do you honestly think gun control laws will make a difference to gang bangers or other criminals? Maybe in Oz criminals obey the law but not so much in the real world. If they follow up on the existing laws, prosecute some of the people that fail the present back ground checks, and actually try they might be able to stop some of the people that can't legally own guns but they will not stop the true criminal element. They will however make it very difficult for the honest, legal, morally responsible person to own a gun. Those are the wide majority of gun owners that won't sell there guns to a criminal, won't go out and shoot up a theater or school, won't go out and kill their spouse or girlfriend or do anything else illegal.
