T.J. Lane, wearing a "KILLER" T-shirt, smirks as he listens to the judge during sentencing on Tuesday in Chardon, Ohio.
Editor's warning: This story contains graphic content.
An Ohio judge has sentenced T.J. Lane, the Ohio teen charged with shooting three students to death and wounding three others last February, to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Lane showed up to his sentencing wearing a white T-shirt with the word "KILLER" in capital letters scrawled on it -- the same word police say he had emblazoned on his shirt the day of the shootings at Chardon High School.
Lane, 18, pleaded guilty last month to all charges against him in the Feb. 27, 2012, shootings, in which he opened fire on a cafeteria table full of students in the rural community of Chardon.
In a brief statement during his sentencing on Tuesday, Lane flipped his middle finger at people in the courtroom, which included family members of his victims, reported NBC affiliate WKYC.com. He revealed his "KILLER" T-shirt to the court once he was inside, taking off a blue button-down he had worn on the way in, the station reported.

T.J. Lane unbuttons his shirt during sentencing Tuesday in Chardon, Ohio.
Three students -- Demetrius Hewlin, 16; Russell King Jr., 17; and Daniel Parmertor, 16 -- were killed last February. Nate Mueller and Joy Rickers were wounded, as was Nick Walczak, who is paralyzed from the waist down, according to Reuters.
Lane has not given a motive for the shootings, which rocked the tiny town 30 miles outside Cleveland. He gave only a short, defiant statement in the courtroom on Tuesday: "This hand that pulled the trigger that killed your sons now masturbates to the memory. F--- all of you."
Gasps were heard in the courtroom as Lane then proceeded to stick up his middle finger at both his own relatives and those of his victims, The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported. Some people started crying.
Geauga County Judge David Fuhry sentenced Lane to three life sentences without eligibility for parole for three counts of murder, plus 8 years for a fourth count of attempted aggravated murder, 6 years for a fifth count of attempted aggravated murder, and 6 years for a sixth count of felonious assault.
In handing him the sentences, Fuhry said Lane lacked remorse for the killings. Lane was ruled mentally competent enough to stand trial last year despite evidence he suffers from hallucinations and psychosis. Fuhry said Tuesday that court examinations showed Lane faked mental illness and was such a smart student that he was set to graduate from high school early, Reuters reported.
The families of the boys who died in the shooting have attended every one of Lane’s court hearings, The Plain Dealer said. Other victims' family members also attended Tuesday's sentencing, and read statements to the court ahead of Lane's sentencing.
"Because of you, our quiet little town will never be the same. Why? Why did you do it? Why?" Holly Walczak, mother of paralyzed victim Nick Walczak, said in court on Tuesday. Lane smiled as she read her statement, The Plain Dealer said.
Dina Parmertor, mother of slain victim of Daniel, said, "I want you to be ensured years and years of pain, which in my opinion is not enough. You don’t deserve to take another breath while my 16-year-old son lies in the ground because of your cold, disgusting actions."
"You’re a pathetic excuse for a human being. In fact, you're not even human. You’re a monster," she added, according to The Plain Dealer.
Lane's sister, Sadie, who was in Chardon High School's cafeteria when her brother opened fire, also spoke on Tuesday, talking to reporters outside of the courthouse after the sentencing.
"The brother in the courtroom and that did this is not the brother I knew," she said, offering her condolences to victims' families.
She described the moment she learned from a police officer who the shooter was last February.
“Along with other students, I heard the gunshots and screams, ran for my life, ducked under tables, hid in the teachers’ lounge, not knowing who the shooter was,” Sadie Lane said. "When those words hit me, I shook and cried and denied that all this could be true."
She said she hoped for some good to come from the situation.
"It may be hard for some to understand, but I love my brother, and I hope he can touch other lives in a positive way," she said.
Lane lived with his grandparents and attended an alternative school for students who haven't succeeded in traditional schools. He was waiting for the bus to his school from Chardon High when he began shooting from a .22-caliber semiautomatic Ruger handgun last February, according to police reports.
He was taken into custody a short distance from where the shootings happened.
Reuters contributed to this report.

Only a Possiblity?????????????
JJD....no, not "only a possibility", but "a slim possibility".
He should never be let out of prison, period. I can't believe that this is not a slam dunk!
Also because of a relatively recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Miller v. Alabama, there are not automatic "life without parole sentences". The judge may still impose it, and my guess is that he will, but that is why is says "possibility".
http://www.scotusblog.com/miller-v-alabama/
another maladjusted kid, with no sense of regret; al the mass shooters have all the same background, all mental cases, all hostile at the world and all discontented from reality.( notice he was in a special school for kids that can not learn in a traditional environment.
He should be hung in the town square until spring thaws him out and the smell starts.......
Obviously he is not repentant.
First and foremost, my heart goes out to the families. Not even school children are safe anymore from the murdering gun orgy that has become part of our society. On another note, what were the county jail staff thinking??? This beast is a prisoner, and therefore has a "right" to jail clothing with county jail lettering on it. Idiots!!!
Sentence ....Life
Time actually spent before the lib system releases him ......5 years.
He was waiting for the bus to his school from Chardon High when he began shooting from a .22-caliber semiautomatic Ruger handgun last February, according to police reports.
So was he waiting for the bus outside ? Or does one wait for the bus in the building cafeteria where the shooting took place?? They need some real journalists at MSNBC,maybe Beck or Fox can show them how to report.
Looks like the press is giving him exactly what he wants too, more coverage.
Take this punk out back put a round in his forehead and bury him in a ditch !! @!$%# him and all like him !!
Ster2
At that school, like the one I attended, you wait in the cafeteria for the buses to arrive.
I agree Honest. He looks like a smug little dick doesn't he?
IA Scooter
"Time actually spent before the lib system releases him ......5 years."
Loser. Lib system? That is as stupid as my saying that "The gun loving republicans made him do it".
How about a comment that actually makes sense?
What an a-hole. His parents must be so proud of him.
The judge should also give him a lifetime supply of rubbers to go along with his sentence. POS...
Diver,
Actually, your last sentence came to mind about "your" post before I got there...
Losers always frame their thoughts in reference to "us and them", sad part is that there usually isn't any "us", just them.
...Evil personified. Evil. Just imagine him as a 25-30 year old adult. Lock him away.
Ster2: "...maybe Beck or Fox can show them how to report."
Bwahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
Thanks, I needed that!
Enjoy telling your butt rape stories.
His parents aren't in the picture. We don't even know if they're alive. He was living with his grandparents.
Send him off to meet his maker..... rabid dogs are put down, this one deserves no different......
If ever there was a mind possessed by evil, this is it.
IF he gets out too soon there will be people waiting for him....hopefully he will get a taste of what it feels like to be on the receiving end. Also he will definitely be on the 'receiving' end in prison...hahahaha
Sure, show us even one such example of someone who has killed multiple people and been released.
Your statement is a complete a total LIE! You think that is inflammatory? Prove me wrong. Back up your false words!
He will NEVER get out.
May not be multiple murders, but I think it's just as bad - worse. Kidnap, murder, and cannibalize a 5 year old then get out 12 years early. Thank god for liberals.
If a conservative talk show host didn't host rallies at the prison, this monster would be walking around.
That article took me about 6 seconds to pull up and post, so I'm sure there are thousands upon thousands just like it or worse. Now come back with some more defense of your ideology.
SpyderGirl,
Thank you,
Ive never heard of that but they should have been a bit more clear,The reporter made it sound as if he were in two places at one time...And MSNBC has some bad writers/Journalists on another story today they use the word Trop in the Title of Obama's upcoming trip to the Middle East....
tough guy huh? Just wait until the boys get to him in the can- I give him a few years until he pulls the plug, or someone else does it for him...
to all who did not read the article and comprehend the content.. 'it is LIFE in prison,'WITHOUT the possibility of parole.. he can say hello walls for the rest of his natural life
Something has gone very wrong with a society of violence magnets. Yesterday, in one NY paper, the detective who was investigating the Newtown murderer, Adam Lanza, said it best...these are "glory murderers." They kill themselves, as this detective stated, to insure that they go out in a blaze of glory. Glory murderers consider being killed by a cop after committing mass murders less glory attached to their heinous crime.
Let's hope that is not long from now
HEY, please read the first sentence in the article:
"An Ohio judge has sentenced T.J. Lane, the Ohio teen charged with shooting three students to death and wounding three others last February, to life in prison without the possibility of parole. "
There is NO possibility for him to be paroled.
I hate reality T.V., but I would like to see his life made into some kind of "Keeping up with Killer". We can follow him around prison as he gets beaten, and passed around as Bubba's toy. What a punk.
His sentence should be being sent into the room with the parents of those who were killed and let them have their way with him. If he had killed any of my children, I would gladly take his life with my own hands. If you don't have kids you wouldn't understand. It wouldn't bring them back but he wouldn't die with that smug look on his face...and the flipped middle finger would be enough to set me off. I know I sound real tough behind this keyboard...but I have four children and having one taken from me by this smug piece of crap would be enough.
The supreme court has determined that these young murderers should not receive Life with no parole sentences.
In my view, the Supreme court justices should take those paroled into their own homes. To be around them and their families.
...well in actuality if he was bullied he should be a hero to the NRA....you know "stand your ground" and all....NRA motto....GET BULLIED, GET ARMED,GO KILL....no brainer...
This kid has the Charles Manson personality type. Manson at age 70-ish is no less remorseful for his part in those slayings than this kid. Manson wasn't at the time of the horrific murders and still isn't. Soulless people have no conscience. Sadly, some people are born without a sense of conscience. To these types, anything, lethal, legal or not, goes.
Right and wrong have been taken out of the vocabulary of most of the American kids, schools and families. If there is no morality and no sense of right and wrong, then things like this happen.
Kids learn early that killing is acceptable, just look at some of the comments on here and its obvious where they are learning it from.
So was he waiting for the bus outside ? Or does one wait for the bus in the building cafeteria where the shooting took place?? They need some real journalists at MSNBC,maybe Beck or Fox can show them how to report.
Its a small community noted for their massive lake effect snowfalls south of I90 The students there catch their bus to their school from inside this school and can if they wish wait inside.
ah ricky...never miss an opportunity to bash the NRA, which apparently you know nothing about. Nevermind, you'll just parrot what other creatins blab who also know nothing. Gotta have someone to blame it on I guess besides the loving parents and whoever was prescribing the Prosac. I will agree on one thing...you're a no-brainer.
What this kid did was despicable, there is no excuse good enough to justify it. I would like to know why he did it though. Was he bullied by these kids, was he a member of some NeoNazi or satanic cult? Was it just too many violent video games? As a society we need to start really looking into the underlying causes of these kinds of things.
May I submit that the very fabric of our society is in decay. It's going to take a righting of the ship to fix this kind of thing. We need moms and dads raising kids that they actually meant to have. We need parents spending time teaching their kids instead of letting the Xbox do the baby sitting for them. This tragedy and all others like it did not happen because the kid found a gun. They happened because the kid was broken inside. Taking away guns will not fix what is broken.
Gotta love the gun control arguments, like there is a "law" we can pass to prevent things like this, or even a set of laws.
Sure, we need laws. Actually, we have gun laws ... tons of them!
But what boggles my mind is that people cling to the thought that laws actually apply to people like this.
Diver, he's not saying someone else is at fault for his actions. He's placing blame squarely on him for what he did. He's saying a more liberal judicial system will release him.
he used a semi-automatic, this is why these types of guns should be out-lawed. How did this kid get a hold of one of these. With these types of guns you can shoot a bunch of people quickly.
This cocky little sh!t hasn't come to the reality that he no longer has any control over his life whatsoever. Thirty years from now, when he's still in prison, he will tell everyone how sorry he is and how he couldn't believe that he could have committed these brutal crimes, etc. Same as the Manson girls; same as that David Chapman guy who killed John Lennon. I'd like to know what Lane's attorney had to say, and what a psychiatrist's opinion is of this guy's mental processes.
Why do we just lock away these POS'? They just need to put a bullet in their heads and quit making the system that these bastards took from pay for him to sit in prison and get things that some of the rest of low income civilization doesn't have access to. I am tired of wasting my hard earned tax paying dollars on people like this. Hang them, shoot them, I don't care, get it over with. They are not worth our time, money or the rehab.
What I want to know is where was his lawyer? What self respecting criminal defense lawyer would ALLOW him to appear in court like that? What a slap in the face to the suffering families of those killed!
It's just too bad they didn't give him the death penalty he so richly deserves. He was clearly not only unrepentant for what he did, but was defiant as well wearing a T-shirt with "killer" on it and flipping the bird at the parents of his victims. This world has no room for such people.
This is why LWOP doesn't work. This is why the victims of a crime and their families are victimized a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th time attending these hearings. This is why the only way to deal with rabid animals is to destroy those animals. This my dear tree hugging libtards exactly why we have these problems. NO ONE has the stones to pull the switch. NO ONE gives a rat's ass about the inhumane treatment of those people like this POS have inflicted. But dumbasses wonder what went wrong with little johnny. Some morons actually sit here and make excuses for garbage like this, like he was just a maladjusted kid, he lacked parenting, mommy didn't breast feed him, it's the media, it's music, it's TV or Movies. But let me say this to all those looking for the answers to the reason why. Who really gives a @!$%# why. WHY doesn't bring back the victims. WHY doesn't make them whole again. WHY doesn't solve the here and now. ALL of the excuses, all of the self proclaimed reasons why are bullsht. You want to know why? Because hundreds of thousands engage in listening to that same music, never were breast fed, never fully adjusted, were abused, came from poor families, crappy environments, watch the same TV and MOVIES, and THEY are not out there doing this sht. Perhaps, you igits should just accept the fact, just like in nature, you have alpha predators who get their jollies inflicting as much harm, as much pain, as much suffering as possible. And when you are confronted with such monsters in this world, the only way you deal with them is putting them down. And you kill these hunks of sht publicly to send the message to other pieces of sht who might be contemplating engaging in the same deliberate acts. You do it for the victim's family so that they might have closure. You do it for the victim so THEY have justice.
Now, to those that have the gall to say what about the perpetrators family and friends, what about their suffering when we execute that criminal piece of sht who killed, raped, murdered, all I can say is Conscious Choices. Those that commit such acts make a conscious choice, those that are victimized had NO CHOICE. And it is about time, no, MORE THAN ABOUT TIME we started making it a NO CHOICE for these predatory jackasses who willfully harm in our society. Guns are not the problem. WE ARE, for not punishing with the same deliberate intent those that commit crimes demonstrate. WE are gutless pussies who would rather play pray and hold hands than to actually roll our sleeves up and realize that sometimes the things that are right, fair, and just, are not the easy things in life. But we do it as a matter of survival, we do it as a matter of keeping law and order, and we do it to protect each other.
Tatoo American flags all over his "killer" a$$ and send him to the Middle East. There's plenty of killing to do there.
When you start living with no morals this is what happens, This country has been going down the crapper for some time, doesn't take a genius to figure it out, kids today aren't brought up the way their parents were, Lets just give him a time out, we are all seeing how well this type of parenting is working.
Ugh. This ungrateful little B@st@rd is only too lucky he wasn't given the death penalty.
Our punishments are too lax. If people want to go around shooting other people and think they're gonna get off easy, then there should be a law put in that if convicted in a court of law, they shall suffer the EXACT death of their victim(s)...............................NO exceptions!!!!!
A life sentence??? Pfffft! WHY WASTE our taxpayer dollars on creeps and trash like this who have ZERO regard for anyone's life not even their own????
ANOTHER case of what happens when there is a broken family. It is apparent this kid has mental problems when he "flipped off" folks in the court room.
Maybe he will grow some after he meets his room mate - Bubba.
thats where your wrong .......if you havent noticed we dont live in a cartoon ...there is a reason they say life is hell.....people like you have no place here i feel sorry for this "killer" ....you bastards want to keep pushing and keep pushing untill they finally reach their breaking point.. well this is what happens when they do
Will the Watcher
Bravo couldn't have said it any better myself
Evil incarnate.
Not sure this kid - (sorry he looks like he is all of a nerdy 15 years old) will last about 5 minutes in the general population of prison. Then lets see how arrogant he is flipping his finger at everyone.
He will be screaming for his Mama and wanting to repent by this time next week.
Buddy you have created a dream world that you are tuff in stuff - just wait till you hit the big house.
This piece of shaat is plenty old enough for the death sentence. As he so obviously doesn't waste any time in what he does, why should we. Ax him.
#1.53 Druzella: I am against the death penalty. But setting that aside, I think a prison term is much more suitable than a death sentence. This guy will have plenty of time to reflect on his actions and possibly come to the conclusion that destroying the families he did wasn't worth his 'fifteen minutes of fame' and he may turn his life around and somehow make some sort of positive contribution to society. Being dead would not afford him that opportunity.
the hell? i don't want to pay rent and feed that bastard with my tax money! off with his head (like IXLR8 and Steve said) -trash like that is not needed in this society
You are an idiot. Did Charles Manson get released? California is pretty liberal but he is still in prison. Bottom line...you are an idiot.
I'm sure he will have plenty of time to discuss his true feelings with his new roommate...repeatedly. He should IMHO never be released. He appears to be a sociopath and my understanding is there is no effective treatment...he WILL kill again if he can.
He should be executed.
Regardless of weather or not he shows remorse, or what kind of childhood he had, or weather or not he's insane.
Anyone committing a crime with a gun where it can be proved that the perpetrator had the willingness to fire the weapon should be imprisoned for life without possibility of parole... or television, electricity, something other than cereal to eat or any creature comfort whatsoever.
If the gun is discharged, even accidentally, in such a case, the death sentence should be imposed.
Guns are not the problem
Bleeding heart liberals letting people out of prison is the problem.
I'm going to play the Devil's Advocate and say for once, I feel sorry for whatever lawyer has to defend this creep. Not all lawyers can pick and choose their clients (especially if one is assigned by a judge), and then they have to follow the client-lawyer privilege, which prevents them from speaking out against their client. If I were ever a lawyer, it'd be enough for me to switch over to the prosecution side of things, because I couldn't stomach ever having to defend such an animal.
Seriously this guy is the poster boy for the death sentence. This is a twisted individual who will kill again when given the chance. Has no remorse in him at all. Frigging liberals and their now better ways keeps this creep alive to kill again be it another inmate or a citizen if he gets out of jail.
dear Will the Watcher, YOU HIT THE SPOT, RIGHT THERE!
should get death sentence cost tax payers 35.000 a year to house him . all the sex he wants food bed to sleep on and better medical then you or i get and we think we are punishing him hell he has life where he wants it that is why he is nuts
Simply put - that boy aint right! Every once and a while nature creates such an abhorrent creature that nothing can be done except to put them away (or yes, kill them if that makes you feel better). the point is, this POS should never see the light of day again. and I would strongly suggest that he not be kept in general population. No doubt he will kill again given the opportunity.
Creek dog- That's just what his roomies are going to be saying. "what an A-hole, I hit that last night and the night before and the night before and......." Rubbers? yeah and keep the sheets and razors away from him. I hope he "lives" a long time.
With his attitude he wont last long in prison. He'll be somebody's lil bitch real soon.
This young man is suffering from unrepentant stupidity and anger. He obviously has no idea of the consequences of what he has done, but he's about to find out. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. Innocent lives wasted at the hands of a thoughtless, mindless, uncaring human being.
The article makes it clear that his parents abdicated responsibility for his upbringing, as he was living with his grandparents. This is such a common heartbreaking reality in our world today. This young man was obviously lashing out at something he felt was wrong in his life. I don't hold out any sympathy for him. My concern is for the future victims of such thoughtless rage.
Parents (and grandparents too) who know their child is obviously troubled, rebellious, unhappy and tending toward violence have no place to turn for help. A grandmother who shot her grandson because she was afraid of him is going on trial now in Michigan. The parents abandoned their duty to the child, and left it up to their own parents to apply discipline and wisdom. How come?
It is also a shame that a person afflicted with such psychological damage can easily find a gun. Guns are more common than toothbrushes in our society and treated with as much respect and care as if they were no more lethal and dangerous. We, as a society must do better, for our kids and for our grandchildren.
I see a lot of people on this thread posting messages of hate and vengeance. There is no doubt this young man deserves to die of old age behind bars, but he knows not what he has done, - yet. When he realizes, and he will, the sheer futility of his life, it will be too late. How can we prevent this becoming the fate of more young people? That's the question we must answer, and the sooner the better.
The whole time......reading this article I was gasping for air and said :OH my God !!!OH my God !!
I don't know how many times ......They better find those breeders (parents ) and fix them right the way ,I hope he doesn't have any siblings ! Why in the name of God you breed and dump your s...t in the back yard of your parents ? gone through life and exhausted of raising you . That is what's mostly wrong with today's teenagers ,parent abandonment and once the kid has the roof on his had who cares ! WOW !!!!.
Like one post said :"tatoo this brat all over his body ,sentd him to middle east and there is a lot of need for killing " Best coment.....
voxrationis
"Sure, show us even one such example of someone who has killed multiple people and been released."
OK, how about this..
or quite a few on this list..
We wonder what caused it in hopes that something can be done to prevent other young lives from being wasted. No sympathy for the devil from me. To those that don't believe in the death penalty, there are some that don't deserve to live for their crimes. Why should we feed and house an animal like him? He's already received more attention than he deserves. Put him down!
Why doesn't the maker of the semi-automatic hand gun also have to share in the blame. If he didn't have that gun, chances are there might have been perhaps no, but at least fewer deaths. But it's better to maintain profits and maintain some kind of archaic notion that guns are a good thing. Go NRA!
Or how about this --- this killer WAS the bully. The ultimate bully, of course. And every picked-on kid's worst nightmare.
Lane I am not religious in the least but in THIS case I am going to prey for you. I prey to any god that will listen that he @!$%# upon your soul (also don't believe in those but what the hell) and that you die a slow, painful death that takes you in and out of recovery only to be torn apart again and again. I have never wished these things on ANYONE but you are special. I can only hope that even through written word we all get to enjoy your painful slow demise. You have taken from families that they love the most; their children. I have two kids and I can promise you that if you had hurt my children you would not be breathing today. You are a sick waste of space and I truly prey that you are encircled with a life of pain and misery.
In closing while I do not know anyone directly affected by your actions I can tell you that you had an effect on everyone in the community. My children live in West Geagua and I have close friends that I grew up with that also live, work, and raise familes here. You have brused a community but you have far from destroyed it.
...that parasite is the exact reason why the death penalty should remain on the books....
...and carried out immediately.
i don't understand why it is being said "it's the liberal's fault that he didn't get the death penalty", i am a liberal to the bone, and i'd like to see that... piece of @!$%# (pardon my French) six fix under being eaten by whatever vermin is lurking down there
just imagining one of my family members being killed by any worthless scum, is enough to encourage such thoughts up there. the victims and their families deserve justice
@ lu-2005066
You obviously no nothing about firearms or double action revolvers. And since it is illegal in most states (my guess it is true for Ohio) for anyone under 21 to buy a handgun, my guess is he stole it.
Yes, this guy is a professional, but with even a little practice, most people can shoot a double action revolver nearly as fast as a semi auto. So in order for your statement to be factual, we would need to ban all guns. However, this violates my Right to Life, which by extension, is my Right to defend my Life.
For me (and I hope I never have to contemplate this for my own life) life without parole is no better than the death penalty.
Imagine what it would be like, day after day, year after year, decade after decade in the same repugnant prison environment, locked in with (and joining) the worst of the worst of society for all those days, years, decades, knowing there never will be a chance to get out of it and experience the lifestyle and freedom in the outdoors, trees, landscapes, lakes, beaches, etc. that he used to take for granted--ever.
Now he only has three paths. He will get tougher, he will submit to a humiliating lifestyle, or he will die.
It was probably his hurt pride and defiance that led to this crime. He doesn't yet know how much more his pride will suffer in prison. But he will find out soon.
So, I don't see how avoiding the death penalty is preferable.
And to be clear, I am not against the death penalty.
I completely disagree with your assessment. I believe he knew exactly the consequences of his actions on his victims. They were to die for his entertainment. His attitude seems indicative of a sociopath. As to the consequences to himself...I suspect his new roommates will provide the orientation. At some point the prison population will realize he is a sociopath and will likely off him for their own protection.
Ban handguns.
His next T-shirt will read "Fresh meat"
I am just wondering, what is wrong with Ohio, that they did not give this psychopath the Death Penalty?
Why pay to keep him alive for the next 50 or 60 years?
That's right, killers have rights too, and the bleeding heart lib's will be there to defend this.
Hopefully he will take a lot of Vaseline with him...He'll need it
#1.78 JWilliams, look up the definitions of 'prey' and 'pray'. They're totally different.
JJD,
If you re-read the MSN article, it does not say that it's only a possibility. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Big difference!
No joke comrade! They should walk that piece of sheet right out the back door and let the victims families take turns tattooing "killer" on his forehead with a friggin B.A.R. at close range! Life? Why exactly does something like that deserve any semblance of life? He obviously could care less about what he did and the only thing befitting that scum sucking azzhole is a painful and public death!
He's got a mite purdy mouth on him. Good times a commin' at the ol' supermax.
I can't see there was much of a defense here and the article did not say; the lawyer's job at that point was to make sure the defendant's rights were protected - right to a speedy trial, etc. That's all she/he can do. The lawyer gets paid, and that's the best part of his/her deal, except for the experience.
Rick- NRA's motto is not get bullied get armed go kill, liberal media has gone to your head. I'm not a member of the NRA, and I don't have a firearm, but they advocate, self defense, that means at the time of the incident...if he was bullied...they would encourage him to defend himself. And that does not neccessarily mean that they would back him shooting unarmed assailants, let alone students. This kid is sick in the head, no matter how you look at it. This is a sociopath, no empathy, no sympathy, no sense of right and wrong. This is the definition of a mass murderer, not an autistic kid who snapped (Adam Lanza), Adam Lanza killed himself, it was a message. If this kid had a message to send then he would have ended his shootings with himself, this is a dangerous youth, and if he had not received a life sentence without parole, he would surely kill again. He showed this by wearing that disgusting T-shirt in front of the families of his victims. No jail will change him, he won't get scared, he won't long to see the outside world, and most importantly, he will never be reformed. Its these violent sociopaths that only waste tax dollars, it costs about $0.35 for a AR-15 round, a bullet to his head is more than justified for such an affordable cost.
Condolences 2 the victim's families.
I would like 2 think that this POS will get his in prison but, unfortunately, pu$$ies like this R usually get put in solitary.
@Creek Dog...The judge should also give him a lifetime supply of rubbers to go along with his sentence. POS...
Not funny at all.......it could be your child in the wellchair or dead ,and you would not think about supplys.
Why for every potential going to prison people think about nasty sex and not any compassion for the victims and smart comments about how could anything like this be prevented .
No one wants to hear what is going on behind bars ,eventually those who experience that ,but we are not interested .I believe public opinion counts in situation like this as a future precautions .
Definitely this child of someone, was very rebelling against his own, due to the negligence, abuse or
who knows lack of parenting contact ,where are they ? Obviously no one cared for this creature's feelings .
I always remember Hillary Clinton's remark :"IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD ". Folks we are the village .....by teaching our, well raised children to have compassion for those who are not that privileged to live with mom and dad .Talk to your child ask question about so and so and teach them how to approach this children and not just bully them and marginalized them .
This way we create a better , safer path for our children that we sacrifice and work so hard for their up bringing ,to be productive ,respectful citizens in our society .
May God comfort this families of a sens less loss of their children.....it is just my opinion from the heart.
"Why doesn't the maker of the semi-automatic hand gun also have to share in the blame."
Why is it liberals only want this type of scenario when it applies to guns? Will we hold knife manufacturers responsible for stabbings? Alcohol manufacturers responsible for deaths and domestic abuse whilst the perpetrator was drunk? The list could go on and on. Where does it end?
Well isn't he the bad-ass with his smirk and killer T-shirt. Let's see how bad he feels after he's been passed around the cellblock for 30 years or so.
@Willthewatcher: that was quite a rant. Do you feel better? Look, I could give a rats @$$ what happens to this kid now. Kill him, don't kill him, he is no longer the problem. The problem is what happens next. There is where your chest thumping does no good.
Look, I'm a conservative, I'm a gun lover. I'm pro death penalty and anti-abortion. But I'm not stupid enough to think giving this kid a public beheading is going to solve our problems. This kid obviously could care less about life, his own or anyone elses. Instead of dealing with the REAL problem we seem content to wait for these kids to kill and then kill them. Not the best solution.
Oops.
This: pu$$ies like this R usually get put in solitary.
Should read like this: pu$$ies like this R usually put in solitary.
Oops.
On a lighter note:
"I was gasping for air and said :OH my God !!!OH my God !!"
*note 2 self: Leave it alone; Just leave it alone.
;-)
And it's the yo-yo's like this kid, who think they're impervious to society, that is the reason that the U.S. should re-instate the death penalty. Put him out of his misery and give the families some final closure for this senseless act of wanton aggression. Our youth need to start getting the point that there is severe consequences to violence and murder and rape (i.e. Steubenville football players). Why should the Ohio taxpayers have to support this punk for the rest of his life?
Dude... you gotta lay off that libtard stuff. I agree with your post - sociopaths can't be cured and this smug prick should be put down., and there's often a generational aspect to these kind of guys.
At least start calling us libturds... that's funnier.
fyte 4justice
No it doesn't. It never mentions his parents. For all we know his grandparents were raising him because his parents died.
This is the trouble with so many of you posters. You take something and then bend it to your will. Please, stick with the story. And re read it if you have to. Plus leave the politics out of it. It wasn't mentioned in the story, why claim it has something to do with this. The elections are over. They are what they are. Please move on.
Will the Watcher needs some watching because it seems he can't see beyond his nose. If all legal matters were fair and honest we'd only prosecute the guilty. That doesn't happen. It's REALLY tough to exonerate dead man and that has nothing to do with libs OR cons. It has to do with common sense. Although your rant will gain attention by a lot of knee-jerkers the reality (something a lot of cons object to) is that we are not governed by vigilante justice. We have laws for a reason and they even apply to those who are clueless.
For those arguing for the death penalty obviously don't understand the cost associated with it. It is usually more expensive to sentence someone to death than it is to house and feed them for a life sentence once you count the amount of money spent on appeals and such. Also don't forget that normally it isn't this easy to confirm that someone actually committed the crime so a fair amount of time it is not the correct person that is dying for the crime. This is one of the rare occasions that it would probably be cheaper and 100% correct to apply the death penalty but for the most part the death penalty is a major waste of time and energy.
For those arguing for gun control please stop. I'm all for gun control and I believe that it works. The thing gun control doesn't do is stop all acts like this but it does reduce them which I believe is worth it. If you think making a semiautomatic handgun illegal was going to stop this tragedy you are delusional and it undercuts the ability to actually make progress on getting sensible gun control laws passed and enforced.
No, but we will be there to make fun of your ignorant posts.
When he is 40-something and feeling sorry for his pathetic waste of life spent behind bars and crying to his parole officers begging to be released, carrying a Bible stating he found God, I hope they play the video of his actions in court and keep his smirking face behind bars where he belongs. Maybe he can try it again when he's 80-something - and again, I hope he gets sent back to his prison cell!
Nothing wipes a smirk off your face like getting gang raped in prison. They are going to have one helluva party with this 19 year old virgin.
"Lane lived with his grandparents and attended an alternative school for students who haven't succeeded in traditional schools."
I'm going to guess that this kid got everything he ever wanted handed to him on a silver platter as he grew up. He grew up being catered to, having whatever he wanted cooked for him, snacks, sodas and whatever, he got all the toys he begged for, all the best video games marked for adults and every game system, 20-40 presents every birthday and Christmas and never once had to work hard and pull his weight around the home. What a precious little brat he must have been!
How does saying something like this make you any better than him?
that guy is pure evil. Some of you may not believe in God, because you can't see him. You surely can't deny the existence of Satan when he is staring you in the face.
I don't see Satan in this kid, John - I see emptiness. He is probably a sociopath, devoid of empathy. It may be that some people are born that way. I don't believe in a deity; only nature.
Our local paper gives even more graphic detail; this kid made an extremely outrageous and offensive statement in court. (It's really disgusting so I will not repeat it.) There is obviously something wrong with him, but it's also clear that he is out to get the families of the victims, and that he enjoys hurting people. He knows that it is wrong, and therefore is not legally insane.
I concur with TheKhanKubla: he may have also been enfeebled by being treated as "special" because he had some behavioral problems. My former neighbor's son was always excused and pampered for having a learning disability, and turned into a disrespectful, defiant little sh*t (though not a murderer). I also hope that in 40 years when he plays the "God" card no one believes him.
This kid is seriously sick. He deserves the death penalty.
He won't be smiling in 30 years.........
First, the judge has handed down a sentence of life without parole, so he is not getting out. Second this is not a liberal problem, a conservative problem, its just a problem, that someone with defective neurological-circuitry can get hold of firearms and do such damage. the third problem is death penalty cases. I do not believe in the death penalty unless it can be proved beyond all doubt that the perpetrator is without doubt guilty, in this case he was, and there should be a short cut to execution instead of allowing constant appeals and years of litigation before the sentence is carried out. We put down vicious dogs, we should be able to do the same with these types of human animals. Finally stop blaming the parents of these murderers, I am sure that his family mourns what he became.
I have first hadn experience 12 and 14 year olds in the state "system" just like this kid. Many have attachment disorder from when they were infants and are now hard wired with a sense of entitlement and are capable of the cruelest of things on the drop of a dime. They are not capable of basic human love or trust for their fellow man. Every day is a struggle of anger and hatred inside them. It is relentless and tires them out, many time no matter how nice you are to them or how much you try to help. Unfortunately the damage was done very young and the state and laws just make it worse. There was a program awhile back that actually worked, but was controversial and resulted in a few deaths: They actually take the child and break down their identity...and do it with food and reward...as long as it takes..nearly to the point of death or suicide.. before they break down and reach out to another human being and begin to trust and respect their fellow man. They either change their hardwired thought process to survive or perish. Once they break down they can see the benefit of fitting in and working with their fellow man, and their minds change accordingly. Otherwise, if they reach adulthood they repeat the process and either end up in the projects with children just like they were, in prison like this guy, or dead...all before the age of 35. In the process they take a huge chunk out of society and other people's lives. At present, the military is the only organization that is allowed to do this via basic training because you are denied much of the protection that is offered to "normal" and healthy participants of society. The present system will not allow what has to be done for these people.
First of all, the 'Judge has NO Guts'... He should have had him removed from the court, another shirt put on him, then had him brought back in, in 'Belly Chains & Handcuffs'... Then he should have had him 'Shut Up' and Removed from the Court', when he 'Started His Rant to the Families'... He could of watched the rest of his sentencing from a monitor in a 'Holding Cell'...
Just a note - the article has been updated. It had been written before his sentence was passed, thus the confusion in some comments regarding his sentence.
So, he will never get out. Good, but I also hope that in the future some stupid do-gooder reporter does not interview him for the "full story" and get a lot of blather about jailhouse religion. Plus, I would not put it past this psycho to write a book and/or start a church.
He may not be mentally insane but he does suffer from mental illness.Psychosis, hallucinations and a high intelligence level all points to schizophrenia. It's tragic and reprehensible what he did but the parents of the victims and the judge can only hope that nobody in their families are ever diagnosed with a mental illness. He should be remanded to a mental hospital for life and not prison as it will serve no purpose nor will it bring these other young men back nor heal the injured. We have such ignorance when it comes to mental illness in this country. It's too bad that the media has to play up his t-shirt and his statements causing people's hatred instead of empathy and understanding.
So I'm guessing none of you bothered to read the part where the article stated that he suffers from hallucinations and other mental illness? How is a person who suffers from mental illnesses of this nature declared sane? And judging by his actions in court, would any of you actually call this young man mentally stable and sane?
I'm not excusing what he did but sane people know not to act this way in court. Sending him to prison where they have to deal with his mental illness is not the answer. I worked in a prison medical clinic, you wouldn't believe the number of inmates that should have been sent for treatment instead of prison general population.
election day for the rest of his life...he won't get to vote...for the corporately back two party candidate of their choice...poor guy...
Not defending this person at all -- but all these references to homosexuality in prison, as in, "He'll pay for his crime in the end", no pun intended, is indeed an indictment against our punishment/prison system. Are we to be satisfied that the criminal will experience forced homosexuality as an added punishment to crimes? Are we so in indoctrinated that we not only accept this abnormality but applaud it?
"This hand that pulled the trigger that killed your sons now masturbates to the memory. F--- all of you."
WOW, he has to be mentally ill, completely disgusting!
@ a few posters above (and probably below), please for once leave dem or repub out of this! It's completely irrelevant. EVERYTHING doesn't have to be about politics!! I am an American first as we all should be!
The damage is done before the age of three when the kid was neglected and ignored for food or handling. It is called RAD and it is insidiously real, not just some BS jargon, and difficult to detect early on and correct. The kid ends up hardwired for animal survival mode and with grift, lie, cheat, steal, and even kill his fellow man...if the environment is not corrected. The chances of this person being a normal contributing member of society is slim at best: the usually end up having more kids of their own and repeat this process and live off the system, they end up in prison for drugs, theft, or violent crimes, or they end up dead. Usually all before the age of 35.
I can see calling this sociopath evil... M. Scott Peck in his book People of the Lie detailed such individuals he had encountered in his psychiatric practice... But regardless there is something terribly wrong upstairs, the whole display of showing up on his sentencing hearing of all things to go flipping his finger off to the victims of the family, his OWN family as well, and where a "Killer" t-shirt same as he did when committing the crimes... We're talking Jeffery Dahmer, or Son of Sam level of sociopathic behavior here....
If due to a Supreme Court rulling, life without possibility of parole can't be issued, then he should get the death penalty. And that in itself would be both a punishment AND a mercy. Punishment, as that is what he deserves given what he has done, but mercy also given the fact that there is nothing any of us can do for him. He's too far gone, and if there's any redemption he could ever have, especially given his free will choices in all of this, it's beyond any of us to even remotely be able to provide it.
There's really nothing we could do other then lock him away for all of his natural life (or sentence him to death), and leave him in a maximum security prison where either he'd get solitary, or get gang banged by Bubba, beat up, and perhaps put to death by his cell mates after the prison inmates find out he's in there for murdering children, and then that is the display he gave to the victims families, and his own families. People who harm children are at like the lowest rung in the pecking order in a prison... Other then protect society, there's nothing more in our power when it comes to sociopaths like this one...
Check his Satanic index.
Glen,
What State? What Military? I was in during Viet-Nam spent two Combat tours over there and I do not think I missed 'BOOT'... I also, retired as a Captain from a Metro Police Dept. handled a lot of juvies, knew some people who worked in it, and some kids that were in the 'juvie system'... Never heard of such thing as you speak of... Also, know other officers from around the country, still nothing... You off your 'Meds' or from another 'Country'???
I guess he might qualify for honorable mention in the Darwin Award sweepstakes. He took stupidity even further than the girl that flipped the judge off in Florida. Reminds me of an idiot that got busted with crack in his car. He had a bumper sticker that said "Bad Cop, No Donut"
aside from the brain-dead political arguments here...
we can only hope this wonderful 'child' is passed around Stateville like a party favor for the next 60 years or so.
The ignorance from our friends on the right is astounding. You whine continuously about liberal judges not instituting the death penalty on a 17-year old, yet you fail to realize that the Bush Supreme Court outlawed the practice on March 1st, 2005.
The death penalty was never on the table in this case, as he was 17 years old when his crimes were committed. Don't like the law, work to change it! No doubt there's plenty of mullahs, ayatollahs, and men named "Kim" who agree with you. My opinion is... if it's good for Iran, if it's good for Saudi Arabia, if it's good for North Korea.... THEN IT AIN'T GOOD FOR THE UNITED STATES.
Of course this kid is going to be repentant in the years to come. He's a KID right now! Full of piss an vinegar. At 48, I'm embarrassed at some of the ideals I held when I was 18. This kid will wake up some day and realize his mistake. And there won't be a damn thing he can do about it. Oh well. Sorry kid. In all honesty, I hope you live into your 80s. You deserve 60+ years of mental and physical torture for your crimes and your actions in court.
The question no one seems to be asking is.... WHY THE HELL DIDN'T the judge toss him from the courtroom while he was taking his shirt off and flipping the bird to the victim's families? Are you freakin' kidding me? He should have been tackled and physically removed from the Court room before that last button was ever un-buttoned. The Judge's failure to act makes him a disgrace in my book.
The d-bag that kidnapped Elizabeth Smart was removed from the Courtroom almost every day of his trial for SINGING Bible songs. That's the precedent I want to see applied as this kid surely went far beyond singing bible songs.
Trust me. This article only scratched the surface of the problem and some of the treatment:
http://childdevelopmentinfo.com/child-psychology/reactive-attachment-disorder.shtml
What is really sad is that the taxes of his victims' families will be supporting him the rest of his life. This is an example why there should be NO TV, no computers, no exercise rooms, and VERY plain food in prisions. There is NO reason for this guy to just lay around the resof his life and watch Tv and surf the internet. NONE. Hopefully, he will not ever wind up in the outstanding prison in IL that Obama got for his state while in the Senate. If you have not seen the pictures google it.
give a couple of months it will sink in...and he will come to the realization of no life and the pain/suffering to sitting around waiting to die will come...trust me he will be crying "mama" as bubba has his way...
Some Guy-5289621, what's make him better than that POS is that he didn't go around killing innocent people
My brother ended up running into someone as stupid, while an officer in the Trenton, NJ PD, prior to retirement. A young man was out late, hanging on the streets, and getting into trouble, when my brother came riding up in his cop cruiser. Asked the guy what he was doing, who then got beligerent that anyone should mind HIS BUSINESS... My brother informed him that appeared drunk, was already guilty of disorderly conduct, and was bordering on breaking several laws, and it would be best to call it a night, and go home.
But nope, the person got all verbally abusive and demanded that he isn't going anywhere. Finally my brother just cuffed him, his head ended up bumping up against the top of the car door, and he got put in the back. And my brother was like, "umm, whatever I just wanted him to go home, and sleep it off before he started getting himself into some serious trouble there... :o ", as he threw up his arms in recounting this one... He was actually trying to do the person a favor in issueing them a warning, and NOT charging them at the out set...
the U.V. index is ok...his satanic index is a little high...but the fecal mass index...of poster's is at a all time high...
Glen,
I scanned over some of the topics in the 'Child Developement Book' you posted, what did/does it have to do with your earlier post of the 'Military' and 'Nearly Starving Kids' to get them to trust someone while in State or County Custody...
Time for Obama to ban t-shirts with the word killer on them. After all, "we have to do something"....
Ron Childers (#1.125):
Excellent comment.
Keep politics out of this.
WARNING: Hip Boots Require for Posting beyond this point...
Wow! That is one sick, full of hate dude! I wonder what happened to him while growing up. And where did he get a .22 semi automatic weapon? And he's not even mentally impaired. The world is certainly much better off with him in jail. I hope he stays there for the rest of his life!
IFindFauxNewsFunny,
"Also don't forget that normally it isn't this easy to confirm that someone actually committed the crime so a fair amount of time it is not the correct person that is dying for the crime."
I agree with that, and that is why I don't normally support the death penalty. I don't trust the legal system. But in this case, I think there can be little if any doubt of this kid's guilt. First of all, he pleaded guilty, and secondly, his own behavior in the courtroom confirms it. He doesn't care. I would say someone should print out all the comments on this blog and send them to his prison cell for his reading pleasure to let him know the depth of revulsion he had elicited in people, but I don't think he would care about that either.
My question is, why was he allowed to wear anything other than an orange prison suit? Why was he not in shackles? This display was beyond disgusting and further scarred the public unnecessarily. Why didn't those prison guards tackle him down the instant he started peeling off his clothing to show his t-shirt? What a fail.
In his case, the best thing would have been to take him directly out back to the hanging tree, over & out.
Eh maybe the kids were @!$%#s and bullies. In my opinion people get whats coming to them and we are animals after all. What are the odds this kid wanted to shoot the sweetest person in the school... You mess with people too much and you don't know what they will do. People do and have gone off the deep-end. Should anyone ever be murdered? No murder is just wrong period and you should find other means to get away from the bullying torture but... Why are people surprised when our youth does this? Kids can torture other kids you know why? Because they have sick @!$%# parents like some of you that think you are normal but really are very mean and judgemental. This post above me talks about hanging a now breathing living person. Hanging a body to rot as someone else said... Why? Doesn't the mere idea of a rotting body disgust you? You can look any given day on any given post on here and some of you people disgust me but yet you are productive in this society? Society thinks people that talk about rotting flesh and your mom should have aborted you on abortion articles and libbies this and that etc on newvine are normal?People actually are very fragile. Having said that we don't know all the details but he seems angry at these kids for some reason. Also some think he should be tried as an adult since he should know right from wrong right? Would you ever want someone statutory "raped" at 17 by an older person to be tried as an adult? Hell no because hes just a kid when it comes to sex but an adult when he murders? Hypocrisy has no ends in this society. Don't twist my words either you know what i am saying. You mess with the bull you get the horns.
Well let's hope they put him into the General population so he can be everyone little BIT-H ....
Also many are saying he should get raped in prison... Do you all see how you are very perversely RELISHING the Idea of a person being savagely ANAL raped? Forget what he did and you still get an image of this and this is funny and awesome for you? This image of the most degrading experience someone can go through is funny and amusing to you all? You RELISH the idea of people rotting from ropes? Since when has America seeped into the grossest practices of the dark ages where we would keep people in cages to rot in town square. You all are savage beasts hiding amongst the civilized. Maybe we should focus on our kids and making sure they are not bullying others and actually give a shi* about each other enough to be kind. Maybe stop blaming everyone else for your problems. LIbbies and republicants bullshi* crap that people love to bring up when there actually is no relevance. My daughter gets bullied at her playschool and the teachers look the other way. As usual. Of course how are our kids going to be any better with parents like you sick people loving the idea of stinking rotting corpses. Disgusting and shameful.
ashp,
i'm sorry your daughter has a parent like you.
Why because i think some of these comments are gross and uncivilized? Because i think many people on here are almost as backwards as this kid because of their ideas of relishing in grotesque ideas? Because i am calling people out on how self righteous they think they are yet they have the same ideas that killers have and fail to see that? Because i suggest we take care of our children and handle bullying better in schools? For that you feel bad?Well my daughter doesn't need your sympathy.
Ax the SOB. The only reason he was given a life sentence is because of you bleeding heart right to life conservatives.
From "KILLER" to everyone's "BITCH" in just a little time ... I bet he won't have that smirk for long unless he is one of those fruitcakes who LOVES having his a$$hole WIDENED !! LOL!!!
Give him a year or two and the little turd will be looking for a way to end it for himself ...
The only thing "Killer" about this 110 pounds soaking wet punk will be his butthole.
They're going to eat him alive. And if there was any doubt, any doubt whatsoever, that the guards wouldn't make sure he "accidentally" got exposed to the general prison populace, it was erased when he flipped off the victims' families.
His life is literally going to be hell on Earth.
Hey ashp - sorry you find such offense at people displaying their emotions about someone who killed other people's children and relishes in his actions without a shred of remorse whatsoever.
Frankly, it seems you're making apologies for this punk and are looking for public sentiments to be thrown in his direction. None of which he deserves. Get off your high horse and stop your 'holier than thou' tirade. Take a valium already!
Well regulated means well regulated. The Founding Fathers and authors of the Second Amendment knew that the angry, reactionary, frightened, and insane would always be with us. (See Blog for evidence.). Give them therapy but no gun.
"ashp"
Some of the comments that you call uncivilized may be "politically incorrect" but not uncivilized; that type of thought is what built this civilized country. An eye for an eye; natural selection, etc.
The personal attacks about your daughter are over the line a bit I think but, you are drawing fire with your Hollier than thou attitude, "relishing grotesque ideas"... really? Who is the judge of what is or is not?
As far as I know, relishing grotesue ideas; or any ideas are not illegal.
Bottom line is WHAT DO YOU THINK should be done with this murderer?
Put into some "love them till it hurts" foster home? Or France perhaps.
Bullying is fast becoming one of those buzz words that someone is labeled because they do something you don't like or is stronger than you.
Sure kids pick on other kids but that doesn't mean it's bullying.
There has to be some boundry with that word(and others such as uncivilized and grotesque) or you are a bully; you are just attempting to bully with words by making others feel as though they are doing wrong. When in reality they just simply aren't doing what you want them too, or behave as you do.
I can't believe how many of you are crying out for the death penalty, or a bullet in the head. If you agree as I do that this guy deserves the worst, then let me assure you that his future will be worse than death, in fact if I should soon read that he has committed suicide in prison I won't be surprised. He'll live the rest of his life in fear because he's not a manipulator, and prisons are full of them, they'll run him like a rat on a treadmill. So don't worry about your "hard-earned" tax dollars going to feed and house him, they're going there anyway and I sure don't mind mine going there - we badly need prisons, and will need them even more as the population continues to increase.
@ Will the Watcher...
You got my vote and as ruthless as it may sound you are right on. Bad enough to kill but to finger the victims family and say what he did to them. Kill him now and just get it over with. There will be no justice served until he is dead.
BJ - he may be mentally ill, but if he's sent to a mental institution, he can be released - and probably will be released - when he's "treated". That means that he will be able to do it again. At least in prison, he will be kept there until he dies. If we could get judges to say - sentenced to life in prison or mental hospital - then perhaps he can be in a mental hospital, and if he's "treated" be sent to the prison - or otherwise not ever let out, I think people could be happy with that.
Good answer. If you want to see evil, real evil take a look at that kids face.
aww come on people don't you think your being a little hard on the kid let him out and send him back to school geez
Hey sters2: Politics in this thread? I live in Chardon. My granddaughter was in that cafeteria. Shut your mouth if you can't contribute something intelligent.
No i am not looking to draw sympathy for this kidl. He obviously isn't civilized enough to be out here with the rest of us due to very poor coping skills. You cannot kill someone you are mad at and that is the end of it. To me comments like torture etc are very uncivilized... Who is to say what is? Well for starters talking about rotting flesh IS IN FACT GROTESQUE and that isn't just politically incorrect. The truth of the matter is we all have some responsibility in this for fostering a society were even merely talking about the act of murdering and torturing someone is considered necessary, fun, awesome and entertaining. I am asking who is the beast? The first step to planned murder like this boy did is the act of thinking and relishing in the idea. Some on here clearly got the first step down and you know what? I bet if some of these people got the opportunity with no consequences they WOULD in fact torture and murder this guy. This is gross in and of itself simply because you are doing this to another person regardless. You are torturing someone. I know for a fact i have never relished this idea nor has it ever crossed by mind because i don't think that way.I don't like the idea of torture or killing yet some on here do and wonder why society is shi*. If this eye for an eye is civilized count me out of civilization but that's ok because society used to say it was normal to beat women and lynch blacks so is society really right? My answer is no. This kid needs to be locked away so that he doesn't kill again for sure, but aren't you scared you are living amongst people that condone rape and torture to anyone? To me that is scary as well. There is def a difference in thinking and doing but often times the thinking leads to doing.
He'll be a cell-block kingpin's boy before breakfast. Then he won't have that smug look on his face.
He was not sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. He was sentenced to THREE life sentences without the possibility of parole. And then also other sentences for the students that were wounded. So depending on if they are consecutive or concurrent sentences (which the story doesn't report) might mean that he has a very very very small chance of ever getting out if they are concurrent. But he will be a true lifer if they are consecutive.
And also I guarantee that he will not be wearing that smirk for very long when he realises the enormous difference between the jail, where he has been up until now. And prison where he is going to end up.
I think it is almost guaranteed that one of the first things that will happen to him is that he will be told that he has to grow his pretty hair longer. Because the prisoners that are going to be serial raping him for the next 30 or 40 years like longer hair on their "girls".
He knew what his fate would be, and he's happy with it.
Sounds like he intentionally put on that public show of defiance in the courtroom, because he wanted a head-start in developing his reputation as a wanna-be bad-ass convict in the state pen.
He got his wish.
everything about Will's lengthy rant after the sentence in boldface is nothing but incoherent word vomit. Ironic, that people like you literally froth at the mouth if somebody blames the NRA for a mass shooting, yet here you are (and a half dozen or so unenlightened people before you) doing the exact same thing--blaming "libs".
whatever happened to it being the shooter's and only the shooter's fault? btw, what does "tree hugging" have to do with anything? LOL maybe your illogical rage is due to having a few too many toxins in your environment
for the record, given that TJ Lane clearly lacks a soul, a conscience and anything resembling remorse, I would gladly pull the switch myself, without a moment's hesitation. there's no fixing that kind of evil
"ashp"
I think you may be getting an idea of what most of us who have been living in reality already know.
People are bad, gross, mean, sick, criminal, and unagreeable.
But, people are kind, good, and loving.
Most are both, you are undecided.
Post adolescent disillusionment i guess you can call it lol.
Is that the clinical term for adult infancy? lol
Btw why does no one see the hypocricy like i mentioned above in charging any teen as an adult in a murder case but always as a child in sex cases... To me you can't have it both ways. Does anyone else notice that? In fact a couple juveniles have been tried as adults in murder cases but yet what about sex cases?
Ordinarily being a bit over-tolerant, I'll make an exception in this case. I'll even consult my dusty crystal ball.
This 'wise guy' won't last 48 hours in the general population of a maximum security prison. He's about to find out about little boys with big mouths, and big boys with nothing to lose. After a day or two of spitting on and flipping off the prisoners, guards and staff, they'll probably simply look the other way when he gets the shivving he deserves. Maybe we should start a fund and/or pool.
Refer to #1.62. It applies as well to your comment.
I'm surprised so many people want to kill him. Why give him what he wants? Death is the easy way out.
Most people like this want to die, they expect it. Go out in a blaze of glory (in their minds).
Why give him what he wants?
So you kill him and then what? He doesn't feel pain... he doesn't suffer... he doesn't feel remorse... just nothing. That is too good for him. He should suffer, every day... for the rest of his life. Not be released to death so easily.
I am sorry put TJ Lane should have been put out of his misery..... Now we are going to have to not only pay for the rest of his life for him but also everyone connected to his incarceration..... It is time for swift justice to be done to these Scum Bags..... Guilty then take out back and shot him.....
And hopefully soon his cellmates Bruno and Rock will be giving him a nice "head" start, so that he'll permanently walk funny.
Hopefully it will get rearranged.

@voxrationis post#1.24 - in answer to your exact statement of:
Here is one, I admit it was a very odd circumstance, but it is one.
By the way his full name "Mitchell Scott Johnson" in case you wanted to look it up yourself.
He should have had both his middle fingers cut off with a bolt cutter and then lynched.
Marxist education builds monsters.
I'm curious as to where the above "quoted" text was taken. It is nowhere in the article. The lead paragraph reads...
...and the article further relates that he received 3 consecutive life sentences. This teenager will be in jail long after I and many of those posting here have passed on. He'll get what he's got coming to him. They like the skinny ones in prison, although they may want him to grow some hair around his mouth.
I admit he probably deserves death, but there is not much of a life awaiting him.
Tom 1202092, dman and others to numerous to be named,
Appeared in the original article on Monday before he was sentenced.
For future reference please note, articles are often rewritten and posted over the previous article, but the comments are left intact and continued.
So, why post it response to the article which reports his sentencing? That is as nonsensical as asking today why nobody is doing anything to stop Hitler.
Why not try and post something relevant to the current state of this case, or even about the facts reported in this article???
dman,
I posted to the article written on Tusday morning which started out with:
Try looking at the date and time of my post and look to the left of the Headline.
It says "Updated 17 hours ago". That means it was changed arounfd 1:00, after I posted.
I cannot think of anything more valuable in this world then human freedom to come and go as you please. And ironically, even that has some limits to it. Sitting in a cold cement walled cell with rusted bars for a restrictive window view of life will be his own hell for the rest of his life. Yes, I think that smirk will dissipate and be replaced with the feeling and expression of hopelessness. He will feel arrogant for awhile, but that will be replaced with the feeling of confinement like a zoo animal for eternity. His emotional state will change from shear arrogance to panic reality when he realizes that he is just another inmate and nobody cares about him. He will realize that this is permanent home and nothing can change that. That is what will happen when the door to his cell electronically slams shut. I really don't think this kid has a clue of how horrible is life is about to become.
At least you can't blame video games on this guy.
Now he gets to finish high school, college, grad school, and law school.
Don't think he got any family members of the victims enraged; a fake apology and crocodile tears would do that.
The defendant is required to be present to hear his sentence. Offensive as his manner of dress was, that's why the judge did not remove him.
For JaimeB: Yes he will get out - in a coffin, paid for by your tax dollars!
ASHP,
yes, our comments are savage and uncivilized. still i wonder if one of the victims had been your daughter... would be interesting to hear your thoughts regarding the murderer's feelings, suffering and demise.
one way or another, however long he is imprisoned will surely have a sausage or three rammed up his ass and will be pleading for his life.....
He should change his shirt from "KILLER" to "PRISON BITCH"
Yep he can be cocky now but won't be so in prison.
Ache for the families & friends of those killed & those shot & horrified. The shooter is clearly not right in mind or heart. Our society needs repair.
Well, not exactly nothing. Actually, not so easily when he spends all eternity burning in HELL.
Debnran, I agree completely. If he's this far gone he needs high doses of meds and locked in a room for the rest of his life. I just meant that the prison system is already overwhelmed and adding insane killers in with the sane ones only makes it harder on the prison system.
So, before the gun vs anti-gun debate rises, let's get something perfectly clear: This 17 year old could not legally own this Ruger pistol. Even if an adult had the gun locked up in his house, does anyone think the boy wouldn't know where the key was? When I was a child living at home, I knew where EVERYTHING was hidden. It was my upbringing that prevented me from playing with things I shouldn't be playing with.
The only way gun laws would've prevented this tragedy would be a law banning ALL GUNS from EVERYONE.
Sorry, but that ain't gonna fly. Don't know what the answer is, but knee-jerk laws that feel good and do nothing but get politicians on TV isn't it.
No, let's use your brains for once: If the gun was locked up in a safe and the combination number kept from the kid, he wouldn't have got his hands on it.
End of story.
He found gun was hidden in a family member's barn.
Let's not forget that it's illegal to have a firearm on school property, illegal to kill people, illegal to discharge a firearm on school property, illegal to wound someone when not in self-defense, terroristic act, disturbing the peace, minor in possession of a handgun, theft, felon in possession of a firearm. I'm not sure which other charges i'm leaving out, but you can get the gist of it from that. All the laws being proposed currently wouldn't have stopped this from happening. If you want to make it mandatory for people to use a safe, then is the govt going to subsidise the cost? I have three Liberty safes that cost me $8,600 each, and a safe room that cost me $60,000. Is the govt going to give me a reimbursement for taking those precautions?
A reciprocating saw would make quick work of that safe.
Please, a kid can get a gun. My mom works at a school and was discussing current events with some of her students. Many of her students are in gangs. She was talking about the potential ban on guns and how I was looking into getting a firearm prior to any ban, but that they were difficult to find. The kids (very seriously) said "you want a gun? No problem! AR? AK? Pistol? I can get you one in 20 minutes and for cheaper than any gun show." Now this kid is more rural than these students, but does anyone really think guns are that difficult to get?
Why? what crime did that "gun" commit?
Very few people are for banning all guns. But would you be open to a law that gun owners must lock up their guns when there is a child living there and the owner is not carrying at the time? No law prevents everything, but laws do help.
You are right, He couldn't legally own the gun... BUT you are wrong assuming that a gun CONTROL (not ban) law could have prevented this tragedy. There should be a background check not just on the buyer of the gun, but on ALL the members of his/her household. T.J. Lane had been arrested before and charged and convicted of assault. I'm sorry, but I think any assault conviction should result in the forfeiture of any guns in the household of the convicted, even if it isn't his. If the owner of the gun should happen to leave that household, his guns should be returned to him.
Polar bear,
Read my prior post. Also, how would that law be inforced? If it's not locked up then you are making a criminal out of someone who was only practicing their constitutional right. There's no way any such law would be constitutional.
I would be acceptable to a law requiring a gun to be locked up with minors in the residence. The problem is, how do you check/enforce it? You can only enforce it after a crime has been committed without violating 4th Amendment rights. Such as, a kid brings a gun to school and now the parent gets punished, as well as the child. Otherwise, it would require a search warrant to enter the house.
That being said, I'd still support it as a means of trying to give incentive to push parents to secure firearms. I'd also support education on firearms in school. Or particularly, firearms safety. Does anyone recall sex ed in school? Yes, most do. Does anyone recall a teacher saying what to do if you found a gun on the street/at home? I don't. Ignorance breeds curiosity and mistakes, and when it comes to guns, that's deadly.
Cult,
That's an infringement upon the rights of the other members of the house. You can not base one's rights off the actions of another. That's like saying you can't own a car because your teenage daughter got a speeding ticket once.
Cult, aren't we starting to push the bar a bit? I'm not completely opposed to what you're saying and why, but I become very hesitant with it. I worry it opens up all sorts of can of worms. So say assault bans firearm ownership, a misdemeanor. Keep in mind, there's a case where a drunk was charged with assaulting a police officer because he farted at the officers. Assault doesn't even require that you physically touch the person. Battery requires physical contact and usually minor harm. Aggravated assault requires serious harm and usually a weapon. Also, at what point do people who've committed even minor crimes become pariahs? Even associating with them, according to your idea, would mean I have to sacrifice my rights when I've done nothing wrong myself. Isn't that a violation of MY rights?
Yes I think if a intelligent person hid the key he would not know where it was. Just like in your childhood home. You don't have to hide a gun safe and they are not that expensive.
Your insurance rates increase, though, so you do suffer a penalty for your daughter's speeding ticket.
Suspect's violent past:
On February 29, 2012, Tim Grendell, the juvenile court judge presiding over Lane's case, allowed the release of the suspect's juvenile records to the press. According to his records, T.J. Lane was arrested twice in December 2009. The first time, Lane restrained his uncle, while his cousin hit him. The other case involved Lane hitting another boy in the face.[42] To the second charge, Lane pled to a count of disorderly conduct.[43] Although family court records concerning T.J. Lane had not been released, as of March 12, 2012, the press did expose criminal records of Lane's father, Thomas M. Lane, Jr. The records showed that in 2002 the elder Lane was incarcerated for one year for attempted murder. In an ordeal lasting nine hours, he physically and verbally assaulted a woman while three children were present. In addition, "he has arrests on a wide range of offenses including drug abuse and possession, violation of probation, public intoxication and disorderly conduct".[42] - wikipedia
OK, tell me again why people in his household should not have bothered to lock that gun up in a safe, away from him. It's obvious that there is a violent streak running in that family.
Perhaps for this family this isn't considered violent behavior.
Anyway, this family's situation is no reason to assault my Rights.
.
According to the detective who investigated the Newtown murder, Nancy Lanza knew he son had problems and encouraged him to continue to train with assault weapons. She also did nothing to stop his obsession with violence when she could have.
Any responsible parent with any common sense knows you don't keep guns in a household when there are teens in that household. How is keeping your home safe from a volatile teen infringing on your rights? It's better to do what Nancy Lanza did? Keep guns in plain sight, not lock them away and then when your kid takes out 20 innocent children...you walk off blithely as if you had no responsibility for your kid's actions? Sorry...that dog doesn't hunt.
Why? what crime did that "gun" commit?
Thar be idiots among us!
Giantego, about as idiotic as blaming an inanimate object for a crime.
Look before this evolves or devolves into a gun anti gun thing nobody says that gun laws would stop everyone who wants to commit such crimes. Gun laws may in fact prevent some of the wanton use of firearms and stop some of the hatred pointed at those of us who do the right thing with these dangerous weapons. No one has suggested we ban all weapons. it makes sense to restrict the sale of certain types of weapons from getting into the hands of certain people who have difficulty mentally. Use common sense when approaching the subject and do not be panicked into believing all the hype the arms manufacturers spin at you. They just want to sell guns and every case like this plays right into their hands. If everyone in the country one day all went out into the street and started shooting each other the survivors would be the target for them to sell more guns to.
I came close to buying a condo North of this "village" which is one of the most beautiful places on earth especially in the winter time. The people of this community do not deserve this just like other communities that have suffered from violence of this nature. We need to take another look at Mental health in America. We can help some of these people lead a more natural life but Reagan destroyed the in place programs and they never recovered. Instead of planting those massive flower gardens and other expenditures it may be more beneficial to some places to spend some money looking after these people to make sure they get the help they need. This kid was a special ed student who had a real problem coping with society. Given the right exposure this may never have happened. Another thought is bullying we hear so much about lately A meaningless fad that seems to permeate our society of late. Going back as far as Columbine the thread that seems to be in a lot of these cases is being bullied somehow. In others the thought of being afraid of being bullied is there. We nee to put a stop to this activity once and for all. If we do not we will continue to pay the price.
Giantego, about as idiotic as blaming an inanimate object for a crime.
Thank you for admitting
An old saying comes to mind LOCKS ONLY PREVENT HONEST MEN FROM STEALING crooks are going to steal lie cheat kill etc. doesnt matter what you do until all peoples are peaceloving individuals with no greed or malice this will keep happening
Really ewent? When I was a teen, my parents had firearms, and they were stored in the closet in my bedroom. Are teens just natural born killers? Is having children mean that common sense dictates you can't own firearms for hunting or protection? We're all playing armchair quarterback to the Lanza case. Personally, I try to see what she must've been thinking. Hindsight is 20/20. But I see a mother that was concerned with her child; he was showing a delusion to the reality of guns and she felt he needed a way to see the reality of them and vent his frustration. Some people shoot guns because they find it relaxes them. There's this sport called skeet shooting, for instance. And for some people, it works. Maybe Nancy Lanza was such a person and hoped her son would be too. Hindsight says she wasn't only wrong, she was VERY VERY wrong! But who's to say it hasn't worked for others? I'm not saying this is what she thought. Maybe she was just dumb and irresponsible.
I don't think that I should have my rights infringed upon because some sick individual in Connecticut committed a heinous act. Why should I lose my 2nd Amendment rights, and so doing have my 5th Amendment violated as well? 5th being found guilty without due process. And found guilty of simply wanting to exercise my 2nd Amendment right.
Until the punishment for the perpetrators fits the crime any gun laws are worthless. Through his own admittance and blatant disregard for human life his should not be spared. In doing so would only give added support to those thinking about doing the same thing.
I'm surprised he didn't use an AR-15, because as Dianne Feinstein and Joe Biden will tell you, it's impossible to have an shooting spree without one. Alas, this little monster used a .22 caliber handgun that fires nearly the smallest bullet in existence and still managed to kill 3 and paralyzed 1. Just goes to show you... people that want to kill will use ANYTHING that's available.
The bottom line is that ALL weapons are dangerous when in the hands of the mentally ill or murderers. Heck, 2X as many people die from knives every year than ALL rifles combined. DiFi and Biden know that and we all know it, because we've tried this before and it made zero difference. So, why try the same thing and expect a different result? Wasn't that Einstein's definition of insanity?
Leave our constitutional rights alone and work on society. That's the problem.
"The life imprisonment sentence can be as harsh as the death sentence, maybe harsher. Supporters of this sentence argue that life in prison, decades and decades of living in a cage, in an environment of rape and violence and being treated like animals is worse than the death sentence. With the death sentence, the suffering is over quickly. If the government really wants to punish the convicted, why not make it really count?"
When you read about these type of cases and people post he's going to meet BUBBA and be his bitch, it's a fact!
This kid is just garbage. It has nothing to do with parenting or gun laws. Even the best parents can fail to change a deranged lunatic and laws don't protect us from the criminal element. Passing a law to control guns only endangers lawabiding citizens since criminals don't really follow the laws... If they did, crime wouldn't be an issue. Gun control laws would change criminal behavior as much as an umbrella would change the weather. 3 life sentences without the possibility of parole for this kid.... That's just fine with me.
Giantego,
Just a thought. I was "bullied" in school too. It was miserable from 5th through 12th grade. I've never been back to any of my reunions because I moved on. However, at no point did I entertain thoughts of killing my classmates. I thought of killing myself but never someone else.
Bullies have existed forever. I doubt this is a problem that will ever be corrected. If you are concerned your child is being bullied there are many alternatives even for those that didn't have money. There are online schools and the state will even provide you a computer if you don't have one. The options are there. It requires parents who will seek them out. High school is not what defines our lives. Having children who do not attend high school but do it online or through another alternative gives them the option of moving past the bullying. Trust me, most of the bullies are not in college and assimilating back into college was no problem for my son who did 4 years of high school at home in order to avoid the pressure of gangs in our area. It was his choice and I agreed and I am so happy that I did.
I don't know about any of you, but how is limiting a magazine size, universal background check, or banning certain weapons going to stop any of this? Not one law being considered deals with the actual problem. We had a ban from 1994-2004 that limited magazines to 10 rounds, banned assault weapons, and how many school shootings did we have? 323 in that time period accounting for 151 deaths. There were 23 school shootings that resulted in more than one fatality, which included Colombine. We also had the North Hollywood Bank shootout during that time. Look who followed the laws. Criminals still used weapons even when there were laws against it, and they still do today. The laws need to be directed at the offenders. Sure the mass shooters end up killing themselves, but the majority of murders are committed by gang members, or drug dealers that if we had harsh punishments could be locked behind bars for life or at least enough years to make them rethink their lifestyle.
The consensus here seems to be the only way to stop these kinds of events is to ban all guns.........hmmm.....and why is this a bad idea?
And Cult, speeding tickets are a far cry from securing a gun and looking to kill.
Ferro......b/c criminals will ALWAYS be able to secure guns....ALWAYS.
Where did he get the gun?
Ferro,
Repeat after me......

Steven B, try to use a reciprocating saw to breach a "real" gun safe, like a Liberty or a Heritage and let us know how that works out. My gun safe is one of the smaller ones sold, and it has so much thick steel that it weighs 500 lbs., empty.
OK, now everyone... No jokes about "size," please. LOL.
If the United States Constitution said, "Every Thursday, 100 people have to jump off that cliff.", we would need to do something about that.
Bobmck- I agree on everything except that if the gun had been locked up this wouldn't have happened. Unfortunately guns are much like prescription pills, they can be bought at a gun shop (pharmacy), when they do not meet the requirements to acquire the guns (pills), they then look to the parents gun safe (medicine cabinet), when there is no luck there they go to dealers on the street, it's disgusting how accessible, they are, and it is not the fault of irresponsible gun owners alone, although they are partially to blame. We as a country have pushed our weaponry into foreign nations for free as a show of good will and charity. When these conflicts die down, that we are supplying for, they sell the weapons in some cases, thousands upon thousands of guns, and they make their way around the world illegally, until the end up on the streets of NY ATL LA Philly, so on and so forth. This is because they realize that with all these extra guns, I could sure use some food, for me and my family. Stricter gun laws will not fix this as you said, it is an unfortunate side effect to our right to own guns. Please don't think I am taking away from how awful this incident was, because I most certainly am not doing that, but the fact is whether people want to hear it, or it makes them cry, or depressed, is that humans as a species are naturally violent. Who hasn't had to tell their kids to stop hitting someone when they are little, that is our inate reaction to wanting something that another possesses, the only thing that keeps us from violence is the societal codes of conduct that we as a society have in place. All it takes is someone with a disregard for those codes and there is nothing stopping him from a despicable act like this. Welcome to unbridled human nature...kill him
Davey,
This is how the Bill of Rights work. You can either practice that right or you don't have to. That is your right/ your freedom of choice. Just because the document says something, doesn't mean you have to partake. It gives you the choice to do so, and gaurantees by law that this nation will keep that option.
davey, if the constitution said "Every Thursday, 100 people have to jump off that cliff", then I'd lobby to ammend the constitution. If you don't like the constitution, there's rules and ways to change it. Besides, the constitutional ammendments guaranteeing the right to bear arms are rights, not requirements. You have the right to free speech, bear arms, etc. That doesn't require that you speak or carry a gun, just that someone can.
Perhaps you are right. In fact perhaps what should happen is if a kid gets his or her hands on a gun left unlocked by the parent/guardian/relative and that kid commits a gun crime, that person should do the same time in the next cell over. Personal Responsibility...isn't that the Republican way?
Giantego
A meaningless fad? You must still be wet behind the ears then. This "meaningless fad" has gone on for centuries, and has only come to light lately with the sensationalism of suicides by the victims. But it has been around a long long time. I was bullied back in the 50s and 60s, it was no fad, and it certainly was not meaningless. And many families kept the suicides quiet; many more were overshadowed by the non war in Viet Nam. Please refrain from "thoughts" like that one without doing some research.
Ol doc,
I'm pretty sure that would violate the 8th Amendment. But, for @!$%#sandgiggles let say that does happen, then we can assume that a car owner whose car is stolen and is used to kill innocent people shall be imprisioned for the same term as the car theif? It's the same premise. Someone in your house takes a gun that they don't have permission to is technically called stealling.
Good points Brad from D. I was charged of assault when I was a teen (long, long time ago). I even forget about it until family get togethers when my mom brings up the fight my brother and I had when we were kids. I was about 18 and he was 19 and we had bought a car together. Usage was to be split in half but it ended up with a nice little scrap in a parking lot. The sheriff arrested both of us and we spent the night while he and dad shot pool at the local VFW.
Can you say false equivalency? Sure you can.
Someone this far gone, and far enough gone to have given the display he gave in court, would not have needed a gun to carry out his sick motives. Household cleaners, if he could have sliped some in these people's food could be just as deadly, except then the discussion would have been death by poison rather then death by gun shot. His parents bathroom, or the janitor's closet could also be a source of deadly weapons, if one being far enough gone, wouldn't be beyond trying to pour a little Clorox into the drink dispensing machine, or something... Some people, really are twisted, and do NOT think like the rest of us, or get motivated in the same way, or react to the environment in the same way, etc...
We really don't know what he would have done. But I doubt, go home, sleep it off, and nothing come of it would be likely if he was in the state of mind to show up in a court room more then a year latter, flip everyone off, and show another KILLER t-shirt to the court room on his sentencing day. It remained on his mind well enough for him to have acted out a second time, in court, after all this time had passed. "Time to think" wouldn't necessarily have been any sort of a remedy here. His actions were pre-meditated and willful, not just a moment of passion thing, or a matter of losing control on the instant, but regaining it... A years time hadn't tempered his display in any of this...
I don't want to amend the US const. That would be hard.
We can regulate guns. Look at the NFA of 1934 and 1968. Beautiful. All nice and legal.
Of course, we'll need the support of all Americans to make that happen. And that means you. And that means you need to move a little closer to my way of thinking. And here's all you have to do. Repeat after me: "It is not OK for irresponsible people to have dangerous firearms."
Now, there's a lot of room for discussion there. But that's the starting point. Do you agree that it is not OK for irresponsible people to have dangerous firearms? Or, is that OK with you?
You know who loves it when any irresponsible person (like the irresponsible gun owner whose hand gun was stolen by this miscreant we are commenting about) is able to get dangerous firearms? America's enemies. If I hated America, I would LOVE the 2A. It lets Americans kill themselves. Way better than Sept. 11. Do you love or hate America?
It really does not amaze me anymore how STUPID a lot of people are, especially the MORON that says the government should reimburse him for securing his weapon, did they force you to purchase it, no, is it dangerous YES, and some how you're so FU_KING STUPID to think it does not have to be secured, I'm not even going to ask your political party because only one side is that STUPID. This moron is the problem why the Government is on the GUN issue!
Hey Davey. If you don't like our constitution then by all means move..I'm sure that you must not like the other things we stand for either.
The kid is a heartless piece of trash. He proved that at the sentencing
the gun committed the crime by just being a gun it's a killing tool no more no less
BendOver, would you describe yourself as an intelligent person?
Dawgfan
What part of "well regulated militia" do you not understand. Unless these guns are in the hands of the militia they should be banned.
So repeat after me
It's just an amendment, and afterthought in the constitution. Like the ban on alcohol it can be overturned, if the Americans come to their senses.....fat chance. But then maybe you can fix stupid if you try hard and long enough.
Well Davey I wasn't the top in my class but I know enough not to tread on the rights of others...That not what we stand for... By the way clever
So you believe preventing irresponsible people (ie, convicted felons, mentally ill, underage children) from obtaining firearms is a violation of the Constitution?
sam:
I think that by now 'dawgfan' has made it more than clear that there is no room for negotiation on gun rights. It's either his way, or the 'cold, dead fingers' thing. This intransigence is, of course, the single most obstructionist element we face in any attempted negotiation.
Repeat after me; "I will own and carry whatever weapons I want." (Resistance is futile)
Somehow, the 26 remaining Constitutional Amendments have simply fallen by the wayside in this 2nd Amendment hysteria. Simply put, gun ownership, to some, is far more important than deaths by gun violence. From my perspective, a little disappointment is pretty small potatoes compared to a violent death from a supersonic chunk of metal.
OL_Doc
Do you believe in taking firearms from law abiding citizens Justice for those that have committed an Injustice.. I don't think people like you want to stop killing at all. You just don't want as many to die when one of the whacko's go off the edge.......
Well, you want to talk about law-abiding citizens.
I want to talk about responsible gun owners and irresponsible gun owners.
A person can be a law-abiding citizen and an irresponsible gun owner, yes?
Well nice statement..... I do like what you have said. Now can you tell me who is responsible and who is not......Or is your answer to take them all..Yes
Do I want to ban guns? No. I wouldn't even know how to go about doing that. And it would be messy and disruptive. I also believe in Personal Property. So, unless the government plans to pay people for taking their guns, well, that ain't gonna happen.
Look, if you want to chat with me, then chat with me. Don't ask a question, and then answer it for me.
Do you recognize that a law-abiding citizen can be an irresponsible gun owner?
So, to answer your question, a responsible gun owner is a gun owner than knows how to handle his weapon, and how to keep it safe. Not Rocket Science.
Do you recognize that an irresponsible gun owner is a danger to society? That is, they leave their gun laying around, easy to steal. Or, they do not know how to handle a gun, and they discharge it by accident.
Are you OK with irresponsible gun owners, or is that not OK with you?
Any responsible gun owner such as myself can have his gun stolen. Yes I have a safe......Yes it will keep SOME people out......I do not know if you have ever seen a safe broken into but I have .Not a bank safe but a small safe like we would own...If you ever think that a safe like that is foolproof then I suggest that you check one out that someone that knows what they are doing does to one. It totally surprised me....much easier than you may think.. As a matter of fact I was shocked.
To the petty thief I agree.....but beware of the guys that know what they are doing... I am now
If someone puts their gun in a safe and the safe is broken into, then we can say that the gun owner has made a reasonable effort to prevent his gun from being stolen.
Are most guns stolen by breaking into a safe?
I truly cannot answer that as i am getting tired of you bull@!$%# questions. Are they tell me. I tried to be nice and explain what i have seen happen to a safe that I knew of and yet you continue to persist..Why don't you lay it out for me and do your own research. I got guns and I respect my guns and if you don't like it take it elsewhere. some of us law abiding citizens that own guns and are responsible that have to work in the morning must go to bed....Give me the stats I will look before work.until then good nite
Not sure why you say that my questions are bull@!$%#. You are the one talking about safes. OK, you want to talk about safes, I'll talk about safes. But now you don't want to talk about safes.
I'm just saying that I don't think a lot of guns are stolen from safes. Do you disagree? I'm saying that if people actually put their guns in safes, there would be fewer guns stolen. But people don't put their guns in safes and guns get stolen. And that makes them irresponsible.
I'm just saying that some law-abiding citizens are not responsible gun owners. And those irresponsible gun owners cause mayhem in our society, when their guns are stolen or not handled correctly.
Of course, not you. :-)
But what can we do about irresponsible gun owners? Or, are you OK with irresponsible gun owners?
I would have prayed for him after they executed him. But right now he’s just a lose demon.
Sounds to me like you are already off the edge! All I'm suggesting is that mental patients, minors and felons should not be allowed to obtain firearms. Since you object to that...which one are you?
bennyover,
Most who really care about any kind of stats on 'gun control' efforts and why they will not work, need to look up a study by Harvard Law School, a well known Liberal School... It was done by 'Kates & Mauser' and is available by copying the following into their search bar: www.law.harvard.edu/students/orgs/jlpp/Vol30_No2_KatesMauseronline.pdf
CBurroughs.
Thank you very much for a enlightening article.......I read it and was surprised the most by the fact that suicides are considered.I agree when they say that if a person wants to end it they will..
I just want to say that Dad was WWII Vet and every Sunday we took the 22 and laid it across the hood of the 49 Mercury and shot.I was raised that way. Can't help it that's the way it was.I also would like to say that I have been licensed to carry since 1978. Passing all of the background checks then and every 5 years passing them again. I do believe if the government thinks I am responsible then it only reinforces my beliefs that I am.
In closing I would like to say that as a gun owner and a believer in guns I have never told and for the most part have never read on these forums to tell anti activists to go and buy a gun. Contrary to being called over the edge by some and reading so many comments for people like me not to own a gun I will stand my ground and continue to be the person I was raised to be. Just a good ole go to work everyday down homer that enjoys my freedoms.
Thank You for taking the time to educate me on a very nice article
This situation is exactly no different than any other terrorist we read about after they cause massive loss of life. As some one once told me, "Nothing in all of heaven and earth can stop a terrorist from getting you. If he/she wants to kill you, they will succeed no matter what measure are put in place. Because they never stop trying to succeed." They always improvise and try again. Remember, we have to stop them every time; they only have to succeed just once! Ask the people of NYC if they think they're safe?
Push parents to lock up fire arms? Are you really serious? If you can get all the ghetto kids parents to keep their kids from breaking in suburb houses and stealing guns, then you might get a handle on the problem. With 40 shootings a week in Chicago is the problem parents not locking up guns?
Lock the psychopath in a prison cell for the rest of his worthless life, really . . .
Really! :-o
He's old enough for life in prison, he's old enough for the needle. Why should we have to pay to keep the little oxygen thief alive for another, potential, 70 (+) years?
plus he'll get free health care , a college education , 3 square meals a day , clothes a TV , computer with internet plus access to all the legal/illegal drugs he wants to escape his reality all on the tax payers dime and not worry about a piss test to get a job if he were to smoke some weed...plus also it seems family reunions and even a conjugal visit once in awhile since some moron bimbo may get turned on and feel sorry for the turd and start writing him...and some lamo intern MSNBC journalist interviewing him in a few years as if he were a misunderstood folk hero that went astray....and we wonder why we are where were at in this country ?
You anti MSNBC people use every venue you can to knock the best news station out there.
Because it's cheaper to keep him alive than put him to death. Because death is such a finality, there are many appeals and procedings to ensure that an innocent man is not put to death. With all the court costs and fees (you know the defedent isn't paying them since he's on death row) it actually costs less to keep someone in prison.
Throiugh his own confession and blatant one at that there should be no need for any appeals.
I'm not against keeping him in prison for life as opposed to executing him - I'm just opposed to providing him with food and water while he's in the joint.
Because on March 1, 2005, the Bush Supreme Court struck down the death penalty for juvenile offenders, that's why!
And it's cheaper to house him than it is to pay the lawyers for all the appeals.
The fallacy that inmates have internet access is just that... a fallacy. They do not. Their communication to the outside world is highly regulated. They can't have cell phones. They do not allow people to run criminal organizations from inside the prison and giving them internet access would facilitate that practice.
Personally I could give a @!$%# what the little punk had to say in court. He could (and probably would) say anything to get a rise.. but at the end of the day he's in the cage floating with the turds and I'm out here with all the girls, money, entertainment, power.. I'm out here with everything he will never have again.
I spent 6 years of my life in prison, got out 10 years ago. I wasn't always the model member of society that I am these days lol.. I can tell you that a pretty little white boy like him with that smooth skin... heh.. well hell they may as well be throwing Megan Fox in there with all them horny bubbas. Horny bubbas that could break him without breaking a sweat. He'd better pray to whatever he holds dear that that big mouth will save him.. loooolololol.
Look, we know exactly who did this. The foul creature even admitted it. Appeals should always be optional anyways in case the convict doesn't mind being executed. If he does appeal, it shouldn't take long to figure out that he's the one that did it. Seriously, terminate him already, with extreme prejudice if possible.
Hey Cult........He used a 22.cheap ammo......1 to the head........I will even donate it.
people want to change the constitution to ban guns. I disagree I f anyone wants to change anything When it is proven the way this case was The way he flipped off the family of the victims. The way he said the same hand that killed the victims is the one he masturbates with when he thinks of the victims. Then I say he should be dead already.....Cost there should be no cost of anything... Some cases yes not this one
I suspect that there is no shortage of volunteers that would happily dispatch this trash for free. Count me among them.
Alternatively, he could be sentenced to death, then released into the general prison population. I wouldn't expect the total costs of his incarceration and execution to exceed a couple hundred bucks.
benny...ugh. This dirtbag killed with a gun. If anything, this story may change perceptions of the death penalty.
Another one for the NRA books:
Paranoid grandfather buys gun only to have grandkid kill schoolmates with it. Grandfather blames video games and not his own stupidity and fear. NRA releases statement saying all 15 year olds need to carry weapons to school. Georgia town votes on making it a law. 3 million gun nuts cheer about it. The rest of the sane world locks their doors.
ExYahooUser
The only thing that is sadder than the deluded mind that authored the above fantasy, is the deluded mind of someone that even YAHOO doesn't want.
DITTO
According to your lib pal , Crazy Uncle Joe....that wont work...he shoots through them
Kudos to you, ExYahooUser.
And ignore the pathetic gunhuggers and their fetishistic obsession with firearms.
People that blame the NRA, instead of the actual perpetrator have an agenda.
I have been waiting quite some time for #4 to enlighten us all with their Grand Plan to convince criminals to give up their guns but, strangely that hasn't happened yet,
It looks to me that you are the one obsessed with guns.
"A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity."
-Sigmund Freud
Out of all the friends I've had, all of the "children" who are taught from a young age, what a gun will do, have a healthy respect for them.
Most of the "accidents" and school shootings happen when people who don't have a grip on reality get hold of guns, but don't realize what they can do, or romantasize about some "Wild West" or "Gangsta" impression they want people to fear, or just to be "seen" by society.
You can't protect yourselves from psychosis, a psychotic will find a way to kill. Guns just happen to be convenient in these cases. What you aren't seeing are the number of killings committed with a kitchen knife, or a baseball bat, or a car, for that matter.
If you don't want to own a gun, then don't. No one is telling you that you have to own one. Those of us who do, need to be responsible for them, since we can't do anything about the millions of guns out there owned illegally.
Are you really that DUMB? NRA had nothing to do with it dumb @$$$$$
@ExYahooLoser
You don't even live in the U.S. so why don't you mind your own business & just worry about the laws in your own country.
Do you get your information from National Enquirer? One of the more moronic sentences in your post. NRA has never said anything like that. You should at least have sense enough to do some research before you make yourself look that stupid.
ex-Yahoo - You must have a very pathetic and paranoid life.
Military Man
True Dad was a WWII vet that took us shooting the whole time we grew up. I never looked at a gun as a tool to kill as some short sighted people on here have said. It was just a way of life. None of us has ever gotten into any type of trouble because of the way we learned..
It is not people that own guns that live in fear It's our way that we know. It's the people that don't like them that fear...If they didn't they wouldn't want to take the rights away from the people with their agenda That all are bad.not the case. Every bushel has a bad apple. I bet when they buy a bag of potatoes and a bushel of apples they don't toss the whole bunch. They just pick out the bad one and toss it out ...Kinda like the way they did to this perp
First and foremost, he should spend the rest of his life in prison, ONLY as he was too young when he committed the crime to receive the death penalty.
Now, as I have continually asked with these incidents;
WHAT drugs was he being given in an effort to "control" him? WHEN were the drugs initially administered? HOW long was he on the drugs?
Finally, and even more important;
EXACTLY what do these drugs do to a mind, both immediately as well as short term and long term that is still literally growing, both physically and emotionally?
THESE are the questions that need to be answered. THESE are the issues that need to be addressed.
Another chemical possibility. Both this kid's parents are life long drunks and druggers. He could be brain damaged from the womb.
XD - You don't know what the hell you're talking about.
Ban handguns.
XD makes a good point.
And what's your plan to get criminals from getting and using them?
.
[crickets.....]
I assume there is some additional information available about this kid's history that isn't in this article...I don't see anything about drugs or drug use, or that the kid was taking behavioral modification meds.
XD, if you have a source, could you post the site? Thanks
Ban takenaka.
Ban alcohol.
XD, the "Issue" that needs to be addressed is, WHAT THE HELL DRUGS ARE YOU ON?!!
XD is absolutely right. Although I'm sure that his horrible childhood was the catalyst for this guy's problems, my hunch is that anti depressants/anxiety drugs may have been attempted here and probably mis-prescribed or not administered correctly. You won't hear anything about his medical history on the media because of HIPAA laws - unless someone close to him directly gives that information to the media. And even then, a journalist will be hesitant to report it if they can't back it up. Watch this. It's gripping:
For anyone who has taken a course in Sociology 101 you will remember that "It takes a human to make a human." Studies have shown that young babies/toddlers raised by dogs (called "Wild children") are very difficult to rehabilitate after the age of 5. This is because the human brain in it's developmental stages requires the nuturing of other humans to develop properly into a human being. Even the speech centers of the brain are affected and after a certain age these wild children cannot learn human language. Amazing when you think about it.
So, one has to wonder with all these incidences of anti-social behaviors of young teens and adults, what kind of weird nurturing did they receive (or not receive) from their parents. It takes a human to make a human. If the parents are drug addicts or abusers how can they properly teach the child about what it means to be a human being? If mothers and fathers are too busy working to find time to spend with their children and nurture their development as responsible contributing members of society, they will seek this nurturing from something or someone else. This kid was not born bad, he was made bad through years of abuse, neglect and abandonment. You gotta wonder what bad stuff went into his brain to create a human who has no respect or regard for others as to kill members of his own species with no regard to the consequences.
I get it; it's the drug companies' fault. No wait, it's Republicans' fault. No wait, it's George Bush's fault. You bet. Oh and for all of you Diane Feinstein butt-boys out there, the assault weapons ban failed in committee today. In the Democratic Senate. Seriously? So you can't even get a watered-down semi-law out of committee? Turns out it's not like the President says, "all of the public opinion polls agree with me!" Wow.
I don't agree with XDm9mm very often, but on this issue I believe he has a point.
I have a young son who is mildly autistic and it astounds me how quickly doctors are to suggest and prescribe SSRI's like Zoloft for kids. (For the record, I won't allow him to take an SSRI no matter how many doctors want to recommend one, usually Zoloft)
SSRI's like Zoloft, Prozac, Lexapro, and Paxil help millions of people every day. I get that they are beneficial drugs, But if you don't take them as prescribed, or if you give them to a kid whose brain isn't fully developed, then the results can be mixed. These drugs have scary withdrawal symptoms... miss a couple of doses and bad stuff can and does happen.
I believe there is a problem in this country with doctors prescribing SSRIs to children. I believe XDm9mm has a right to ask the question about powerful prescription drugs and what it's doing to our kids, especially the side effects that occur when they aren't being taken as prescribed (missed doses).
Those big cons are gonna be lovin' you day and night T.J. Keep smiling.

Sentence ....Life
Time actually spent before the lib system releases him ......5 years.
Not at all surprised you'd make this political...
Harold of the Rocks
it was Bush's conservative Supreme Court that outlawed the death penalty for juveniles.
Lame...
This kid is a sick, twisted peice of Sh*t who really should be destroyed! But I imagine there will be some prison justice...don't drop the soap, scumbag!!
prison prom queen
Hey, stuff happens. We were all put here on Earth to experience pain, pleasure, disgust, apathy, and every other emotion there is. That couldn't happen without these horrible people.
Execute his butt, time to go zero tolerance on this crap. You kill, you get killed. (unless in defense of self or others)
We need more death penalties for these crimes and not taking 10- 20 years to carry out their sentences! We need justice for the victims and forget about all the dumb bleeding heart libs who support people like him or at least feel sorry for these POS!
oh FFS...stop generalizing.
I'm a liberal, and my opposition to the death penalty is all about killing a potentially innocent person. A quick google search can show you several cases where DNA has exonerated someone on death row for years. In a case like this, where guilt is obvious, you can't execute him fast enough.
This kid is an example of a "sick" society. It takes a human to make a human. This kid was not born bad, he was made bad through lack of proper nurturing by two stable parents. Apparently from what I have read his parents were addicts. So many of these young boys are seeking attention today by picking up a gun and killing others and then turning it on themselves. It is a sad commentary when a mother dog can raise her puppies better than a human can raise it's child. God help us all.
Hey truthgoddess... it was Bush's conservative Supreme Court that outlawed the death penalty for juveniles. They did so on 3/01/2005. So stop crying your "bleeding heart lib" crap.
There are plenty of societies that kill children who commit crimes. Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, North Korea. No bleeding heart libs in any of those places! You would do well there. Take pride in suggesting that children be killed. Better yet, pray to Jesus for that next time you're in church. I'm sure Jesus would agree that we need to execute kids.
I have never seen such hate in a person's eyes. Unreal. Almost to the point of a dead stare. No pun intended at all.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Look at a picture of Mr. D. Cheney.
ExYahooUser, are you talking about this pic?

He is pure evil, no signs of remorse. A true sociopath.
Hence, the shirt...I think that's the point. There is no redemption here.
change the word to "killed" and put him out of his misery. why should we pay for 60 yrs of food, medical and everything else. this is a clear case of guilty - death penalty and it happens next week.
Don't worry, we won't have to pay for food and medical care for very long. "Hello, Ohio school shooter, you miserable POS. Meet Bubba, your new roommate. Have a nice evening."
I doubt he has any remorse for his actions. So sad that this evil in him caused way too much pain for many others. I think he needs to be locked away without possibility of parole. People like this do not belong in society. I hate the idea of paying for him for a life in prison, but better that than him doing more harm in the real world.
Why I'm thinking there is possibility lawmaker to do something and he gets...death penalty! Period.

Norwegian mass murderer Breivik sentenced to 21 years
www.haaretz.com/news/world/norwegian-mass-murderer-breivik-sentenced-to-21-years-1.460619
Anders Behring Breivik killed 77 people in bomb and shooting attacks last year; Breivik tells court he won't appeal verdict, because that would 'legitimize the court.'
I remember watching the horror of the day Anders did this. I was told they rehabilitate and many believed we should do that here at newsvine. I never want to hear of T.J. Lane seeing the light of day.
77 young lives taken, and many more injured. and only has to serve 21 years. May we the people never, ever adapt such laws.
Norway, where hunting is popular, has some of toughest firearm legislation in world, but it was easily circumvented.
Let us learn from Norway what not to do. May we not lose sight on who the real victims are.
Hemusbull,
Agreed Why don't we change these STUPID SYMPATHY sentences for these Calculated Killers ? The "Lawmakers" are making all kinds of STUPID GUN RESTRICTIONS AND BANNING's that will do Dik Instead of Making instant Death Penalty Rulings for All of these Mass Killers And when you have people like this Man-child full of Hate and No remorse then Fast track them to the Chair !!
@cit liberty
In Norway,a sentence can be extended indefinitely if, at the end of the original sentence, it is determined that the perpetrator still poses a threat to the public. Breivik will very likely spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Prisons in Norway are quite cushy, however. I saw a picture of a cell and it looks like a college dorm room.
All the laws are doing supporting these crazy kids and making it socially except able and glorifying!!
He has no idea what he's getting ready to experience. He has not been in the state prison yet. He's going there now, and every trash bag, hardened criminal will already know what he's done. He will have rectal reconstructive surgery many times before he is killed in jail. It just happened in Louisiana. A smug little punk who was 19 robbed a McDonald's and shot a student in the face on the way out the door. He was the smiling little punk like this kid. Over the course of his first 5 years in prison he had reconstructive surgery seven times, before they found him beaten to death.
The little freaks name was Joel Durham
Ster2, how much more clear can it be? The quote as you copied it is: "He was waiting for the bus to his school from Chardon High when..."
Bogus,
Yes it said he was waiting for the bus,and yet the cafeteria is where he killed,And had you bothered to read the response I received as to some schools have you wait in the cafe for the bus, which I was unaware of,and replied with a polite Thank you to for the reply to my question.
So if your looking for a fight over ignorance....YOU WIN ! Congrats :)
Life. At hard labor on in solitary. Give him a rope if he doesn't like it.
Life in solitary for this POS would be right. Solitary confinement in a small room with no windows, no visitors, no human contact for the rest of his life, no reading materials, nothing; just let him sit there and rot.
Ohio is such a bad place...
I think your confusing us with Illinois
He should get life in a prison for the criminally insane. Obviously he is not capable of making decisions that are in his own best interest. Otherwise he wouldn't wear a shirt like that to his sentencing hearing (unless he's intentionally trying to play the "incompetent" card, in which case he still should get that sentence).
Yes, the shirt is hilarious. Now he has some grounds for an appeal. He obviously has a valid claim for insufficient, incompetent representation. His attorney should have ensured that he appeared in court (every time, but especially for sentencing) in a neat suit and tie, with polished shoes.
Perhaps he really likes the incarceration - guilty plea, smartaleck gestures, smirky expression, no remorse. For some people, it may be comforting to know that they will never again need to make a decision. Someone will tell him what to wear, when to eat, what to eat, when to sleep, when to bathe, who can visit and when, what he can read or watch on tv, who he can send and receive mail from (which is all read by others), who will be in his cell, etc. Every freaking day. For the rest of his life. Sounds better than the Army.
mailman8,
You are so correct. However, wouldn't it be wonderful if the reality could be -
1. never, ever; 2. no one; and 3. Bubba, rotated weekly to keep the level of interest very high!
He was brought in wearing a dress shirt. He took it off to reveal his T shirt. His lawyers probably had no idea he was going to do that.
No, he wants to go to jail and he won't appeal. Some people know where they belong and he knows he belongs in jail. He want to live and die there. He even stopped his lawyers from presenting anything in his defense. At least, he had the decency to spare everyone the trial. His lawyer must be upset because taking on this case brought him no notoriety or publicity unlike Jose Baez and others. Jose Baez was on HLN news last night discussing the Jodi Arias case, he basically said that the truth isn't really relevant, a good defense lawyers just needs to cast some doubts in the prosecutors case.
It's probably a sure thing that his attorney was not aware that he had that "T-shirt" underneath the button down. However, I am equally sure that he saw it when it was removed like all else. So I have to conclude that his own attorney hated his ass to such a point that let him hang himself by not telling him to cover it up and allowing him to display the shirt.
His attorney's lack of silence at that point does not constitute blindeness, simply just paybacks. Besides, do you think the judge would adjusted the sentence to " LIFE WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE" had he not displayed the shirt? FAT CHANCE!
Some things aren't always what they appear to be. Just my guess.
Wearing the T-shirt to sentencing? to quote the line from Forrest Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does."
The SECOND that t-shirt was revealed, one or more of the guards should have jerked him right out of that court room and removed that shirt, or made him put the other shirt over it. And, if force was necessary, so be it. It's bad enough that he killed and maimed, but to afford him such a public platform to taunt his victims and their families was unconscionable on the part of the court, as well as HIS lawyer(s).
Its horrible, but also an obvious act to show he is tough and defiant. Guaranteed he will be crying himself to sleep and regretting his life choices.
sunpigs... THANK YOU.
Right on. The judge is a disgrace for not immediately removing this kid before the last button was un-buttoned and before he had a chance to start flipping his middle finger at the victim's families.
I would want to know his reasons. I was bullied incessantly in high school, and if I'd had access to a gun, I might have killed a few choice jerkoffs at my school. I'm not saying he should be excused, but let's not jump to the conclusion that he had no reason and the kids he killed were little angels.
I had access to guns... I was bullied. Guess what.. never once did I think about taking a gun and blowing away people. WE all search for our place in life... the problem with today's little kiddies is that they think they are ALL special and thus are entitled and justified in whatever they do.
Just because someone bullies you is no reason to start killing people !! WTF did you even think for a second before posting that bull@!$%# !!??
There are a lot of people who were bullied in school, who have become the top of their fields. It's called getting a thick skin. The singer Susan Doyle comes to mind. Oscar Jennifer Lawrence recently told of her own experiences.
I was bullied at school, but I had worse demons in my home.
WRONG, PolarBear1............I got bullied so it was OK that I killed someone? And I say that as a person who was picked on incessantly in high school. I was younger than everyone else, and yes kind of a bookworm/geek, and I got shoved, pushed, picked on, laughed at, made fun of, talked about, harrassed - every single day - one of the most miserable times of my life, except for the actual education. When people talk about their high school years with affection and nostalgia, I tell them that you couldn't pay me a million dollars to relive that time. Having said all that - pick up a gun and kill someone? Because they were mean to me? Uh, no............
If it was the case that he was bullied (or if he had any vague justification of any type, even if it was crazy), then he and his attorney should have brought that forward during the trial.
There are only two reasons to avoid presentation of motive/extenuating circumstances like he did.
1. There was no motive or justification.
2. Admitting guilt to cover for the person who did it - N/A in this case, as proved by the facts and testimony.
Polarbear-really?? I was harassed on the bus daily, got rubber bands flung at me in class, got my head slammed against lockers, my hand closed in a locker....and I may have thought about what I wanted to do to the a$$faces who did this, but that is all I did was think. I was raised with morals and values and taught to ignore people who act out, to know RIGHT FROM WRONG! Who knows, maybe the person who was bullying me came home and got punched in the face every day, or got molested? Kids act out and bully others because they feel they have no control at home. They act out because they don't know what to do with the lack of parental control. If you look at most bullies all you have to do is meet a parent or guardian and you can see where the child got their views from. Not that I am excusing any behavior, but there is a reason why a child is a jerk. Anyway back to my point...just because you are treated like garbage by a bunch of self-righteous f*$k heads does not give you the right to kill anyone.
Being bullied will rip away your humanity. Of course its not O K to kill someone because your bullied..but don't be shocked when the person you bully comes out of the corner with a gun and is a monster.
TerriLeah - welcome to the club. You just took the words right out of my mouth - and, in fact, I did tell someone they couldn't pay me a million dollars to relive that time. Someone I went to school with asked me if I was going to the ten year reunion and I asked her if she'd lost her frikking mind. Not even if hell froze over - who wants to see those jerks again?? Maybe she thought it was all fun and frolic, but I loathed most of school, except, as you said, for the actual education. Despite fitting in a little better after my freshman year of HS, it was never what could be considered a fun time. But kill any of those losers? Why? Then they win. To hell with that - wait long enough and you'll see the prom queen on her fifth divorce and the football star looking more and more like Homer Simpson, and neither one with two nickles to rub together. Count on it.
Let's be real and call bullying what it is."Emotional rape."
Dude, I got bullied in middle school a little bit.....finally I told my Mom about it......and she gave me words of wisdom which I will never forget......."Son, go to school tomorrow, walk right up to the SOB, and you punch him in the mouth as hard as you can, don't hold back, and if he falls down, you get down there an knock his friggin lights out.........give him this day to remember when he received accountability for doing the wrong thing" Well, I went to school the next day, and ended up spending the next week at home. But that SOB, and every other SOB in that school, told each other, leave me the hell alone.
We don't even know if this kid was bullied. I'm happy for you that you found the cure to your ills in HS. Unfortunately your cure is not every ones cure.People cope differently.
@Ripley - I've always said that killing your enemies isn't the way. If you kill them, you pay the price and you just solved all of their problems. The worst punishment you can administer is to let them live, and to have a better life than they do.
Such a sweet boy! I am certain he is going to be popular in prison. So when the lights go dim and the guards turn away.. lets just see how bad-ass he really is.
Someone is gonna tie him to their belt loop ....
How does this happen in a court room in the UNITED STATES ??? They should have dragged him out by the hair and made him change his f*cking shirt!!! What the hell is going on ?
EXACTLY! They're gonna pick their teeth with that crazy @$$hole in that jailhouse.
White trash ought to be shot in the head leaving that courthouse!! " BAM "... End of him!
you can take the trash out of the trailer, but .......
Damned shame he was not living in Texas and age 18. Seems like a little private legislation to allow the death penalty would appropriate in this case. Why should taxpayers feed the !@#$%^&~! for the rest of his life? Perhaps the current residents of the prison system will be able to teach him some manners and respect.
There's a good chance this punk won't see his 18th birthday !! And that'll be a good thing for the rest of the people on this planet !!
unfortunately no matter how distracting the fact is that he killed few people without a significant reason. this is just a ramification of what is happening in society as whole. and most of these comments just focus as usual on "fixing" problem after the fact or punishing person harshly also after the fact. but just like in anything there is always an underlying reason - a cause. and in this case, just like in many others its merely the fact that the kid grew up without parents and especially a father to teach him discipline. its happening all around us and its a big problem. this society is at the verge of collapse. and each and all of those are responsible from this starting with president and ending with you sitting here sharing your worthless opinion on the internet.
I had brought this up in another article, however with your approach, I would not join in. Many of the killers had a good home life and two parents. once one picks up a weapon to justify their cruel life, they are no longer a victim, or get any sympathy, at least from me.
Here are a couple articles on what you are considering., I do hope a dialogue does happen in an article that has us look at productive prevention
Focusing on Violence Before It Happens
www.nytimes.com/2013/03/15/us/in-los-angeles-focusing-on-violence-before-it-occurs.html?pagewanted=all
The New York Daily News broke a story on March 17th related to this:
Lupica: Morbid find suggests murder-obsessed gunman Adam Lanza plotted Newtown, Conn.'s Sandy Hook massacre for years
www.nydailynews.com/news/national/lupica-lanza-plotted-massacre-years-article-1.1291408
Sorry macbookpro but lots of people grew up with their grandparents and didn't turn out like him.
The kid has mental issues! So all you NRA/gun advocates say that we need stricter mental health laws? How will they be enforced? You say we can't enforce laws requiring the use of trigger locks/gun safes but who says that a parent/grandparent/guardian will recognize the signs that lead to this kind of violence? Who will FORCE them to take their child to a 'shrink', or have him/her committed? Then you'll all be crying about how our country has turned into what Germany was in the '30s/'40s.
Germany in the 30's /'40's had plenty of guns and ammo to go to the general population; Hitler even made sure that there was more for his audience. Anyone not in his audience was out-gunned and out-numbered, until he got to the Russian front on the east and the event called D-Day on the west.
When the next Facebook poster comes around to the contrary, know that it's just another ad for the "I don't care about the truth" fanatics.
Macbookpro,
Im betting Pedifile's and Rapest's ,and And the rest of the scum have "reasons/excuses" for their actions also...Many of us have had a hard life, hard knocks even those with both parents...While I agree with Society going to sh*t it is no reason to Not punish Harshly those that commit Horrible unspeakable acts on their fellow Humans.
The Media Bashes anyone who believes or doesn't believe the way their Elite Commie owners say we should, they have torn apart the Fabric of America at every level ! Sex sells they glorify it,Graphic violent Fantasy movies and Games sell big,We just raved at a movie that pits children against children(Hunger games) Video Games that reward the most kills, most of these Mass killers Play all day and night till they can't distinguish between Reality anymore And A Gang of teenage-boys that video tape a girls rape and laugh and joke HaHa,Almost every show has to have a gay person in it,And bash Christians and conservatives,we celebrate shows where teens are having sex in every episode and show nudity just for ratings,If you don't support baby killing there must be something wrong with you, Then we wonder why some have no regard for life...All of this were told has nothing to do with people committing crimes.Even Ted Bundy and other serial murders said they got started reading Smut Mags as youths.
But no....The media goes after Homeschooling and guns....Stupid is as stupid does...
Then cut his hands off, never to be able to pull a trigger again nor be able to masturbates to the memory as he said..
This kid thinks he's a real bad ass but he will find out when they take him to the pen he will be bubba's buddy! It didn't state but I hope the judge made every sentence consecutively and not not concurrently. That will make sure that he spends his life in prison. For a few years he will start many fights over who gets him. Have a happy life in stir kid, no girls for you...u will be come the girl.
he got life without paroll + 18 yrs. he'll never get out!!!!!
Macbookpro, but you sharing your worthless opinion on the internet is somehow acceptable? Because believe me, it's worthless.
Come see me, lane!!!
He's a little punk. A gun made him a big man. It'll be no time in prison till he's someone's bitch.
A gun made him into a killer.
Guns do not make people killers. Just as much as cars make people killers and Doctors who killed 98,000 people last year due to malpractice.
So ExYahoo... so you're saying the gun kept at him until he gave into the gun's demand? Did the gun abuse him? Did the gun force him to be a killer?? Man are YOU wet behind the ears.
ExYahooUser is just a troll blurting crap to get a reaction. I blocked him.
@ ExYahooLoser
Guns are inanimate objects, idiot. Inanimate objects are incapable of making people do anything.
Inanimate objects rule!
Stop signs makes me hit the brakes, yellow lines keeps me in my lane, chairs make me sit down, and guns make people buy so many that nuts like this kid can find them easily.
Not against guns, but wish somebody remembered to lock 'em up and store their arsenals at the gun range.
Much cheaper than locking "killer" up for 70 years!
I'm not saying it's an excuse, but he was probably bullied by some kids and felt that he "owed" it to them. That could also explain his behavior to the parents of the kids he killed. He was failed by the system, or so he thinks. Sadly, there are many, many kids like this everywhere. We as the older generation are failing them. We are in a state of moral decay, and it's a slippery slope.
you know why bc everything is so pc...its rediculous, teachers can't council kids anymore and parents are too busy, thats why crap like this happens
When parents are more concerned with acquiring material junk than raising their kids, this is the kind of society you get. If you want lots of stuff, fine, just don't have kids. There is no law that says you have to, and if you aren't willing to give 100% to raising them, you shouldn't.
The posts here reflect what I've always said about this issue: This problem is multi-faceted...and will require a multi-faceted approach....most of you are correct....it's a plethora of possibilities that could have caused this kid and so many other killers to make the choice to kill. Not one fix, alone, will be the answer.
Don't turn yourself into a pretzel to be compassionate over this, TanMan. As a Mother and former Educator he fails to light my "better self" into mental activity on his behalf. That's a really nasty sociopath. Unrescuable. This story is about somebody who grew every year putting the lessons of life together saving and savoring only the mean, cruel and self-pleased and only in attack mode. Nicer, smarter, better me is so heavily on the side of the helpless killed by him and so convinced occasionally we just spawn an incurable, all rotten vessel of hate like this, I have to say thank God he's locked up three, no-way-out sentences and then some. He was, as you observed, in a professional environment for kids who "need help". It's our limits of wisdom and there was no good flesh: it was all cancerous tumor. We lose some. Maybe someday we'll have detection and genetic remedies in utero, or be able to detect families who are destroying their kids and fix that. Not yet. I'm grateful it doesn't occur more often than it does.
Fun Mom, I'm in no way a pretzel, but I do see the bigger picture. He's not one person that cycled out on this path alone. Our society is full of people like this, as evidenced by recent happenings. To destroy based on suspicion or genetics is scarily wrong. I wouldn't want to live in a society like that. I'm saying that issues like divorce, hedonism, pornography and yes, homosexuality are eroding the moral fabric of this country. We have so many people wrapped up in their own agendas, people like this are left to their own, and then come out and do things like he did. It gets me how he has no sense of reticence, which, I'll agree with you, shows him to be a monster.
4% of society across USA is 'diagnosed' as Bipolar. That is 'Diagnosed', countless are not yet 'Diagnosed'. Pray that you Never cross paths with these 'Special' people. Govt begins by Prescribing Meds for ADHD at an early age. Dr Healy (Ireland) warned of the consequences of a developing brain exposed to Mind Altering meds as children. 'Children' with developing brains are up to the mid 20's, some are longer.
SSRI's are Not natural chemical compounds. Interfering with the natural Serotonin, they in effect 'shut down' Serotonin causing erratic 'manic depressive' personalities. 9of10 recent Atrocities are linked to SSRI's. No govt action to legislate SSRI's, outlaw SSRI's, Restrict SSRI's Register those using SSRI's?
Dr Breggin testified before Congress, predicted the SSRI's damage to the US Mil troops and warned of suicidal tendencies, Emotional Swings and Absolutely no remorse or Emotional connection to their 'Accomplishments'. The USA is the most Drug addicted society in history.
One other connection not revealed for understandable reasons, is the fact that Every one of the 'Crisis' News Atrocities were committed with connection to the 'Progressive' mentality.
The problem here is that this kid was not mental. He was a smart kid who was going to graduate early. If the media wouldn't glamorize mass shooters, people wouldn't be so quick to do it. This kid needs to fry. Don't sit him in jail, with 3 hots and a cot. Fry him a little, stop, then do it over and over until he dies from the pain alone. He deserves this after what he's done to the families of the victims as well as his own.
Why do we treat criminals with such grace? Why don't we get a little more brutal and show them we don't mess around anymore?
the judge should have just called his maladjusted butt to the bench and ordered an immediate death sentence, and then he should have instructed the bailiff to put a couple of .357 slugs in this punks head, yes it would have been loud and very likely a bit graphic,BUT i would imagine those victims and their friends and relatives would have felt justice had been served...and that may have been a somewhat effective deterrent to other psychos...lets hear it for courtroom executions it kind of sort of puts a damper on the whole appeals thing but hey, that was way too drawn out and abused anyway...
I will be the first to say that I'm not a huge fan of the death penalty, however when I see the actions of this young man in the courtroom, the smug look on his face, and the lack of remorse, I become a believer. There is no one that will ever be able to convince me that he is able to be rehabilitated back into society. So then what...he gets to sit in a prison and we, the taxpayers get to take care of him for the rest of his useless life...we pay for his food, clothing, television, books, electricity, water, etc. If there is no potential to rehab, why not get it over with????
I dont know, it might be worth the money in room and board just knowing that someone in prison is going to wipe that stupid smirk of his face. He is already some bubba's girlfriend, he just doesnt know it yet...
First, my heart goes out to the victims and their families. I don't understand why he was allowed to wear that shirt into the court room. As for his "statement" it will be interesting to see where that middle finger ends up once he is in jail. From the size of him no place pleasant. And to reply to TanManTexas: I work in the school system and I see children like him everyday where school administrators, councilors, and teachers are all attempting to reach these kids, to help them. The fact that he was in a special school to help him is proof that he was getting some form of help for whatever issues he has.
If he shot them in the cafeteria, then how did he start opening fire while waiting for the bus to school?
Both scenarios are mentioned in the article. I'm just confused.
In some schools, students wait in the cafeteria for the bus. Especially when the main bus drops them off and then they go to another location from there. If memory serves me, he attended school at a different location that picked up everyone from the school where the shooting happened.
My question is, why did he do it. Most people don't commit murder without a motive. Did the victims mess with the murderer? If so I'll bet the kid in a wheelchair is regretting it. Like Clint Eastwood said in Gran Torino: " You ever F with somebody and realize that you F'd with the wrong person?"
If you F with people, someday you might F with the wrong person. I'll bet money, they F'd with them. I and I like that he didn't start sobbing and acting nervous. This kid has balls. I don't like how they hand out adult sentences to juveniles.
Sorry d-bag the psycho does not have BALLS...In fact I'd call him something resembling a cat. To walk in a shoot up defenseless kids...that is not balls. that is the worst kind of coward on all levels.
im sorry but no running to a gun is not having balls, i do agree however with defending youself but the old school way, if they were picking on him, he could have just smacked em one good one and i asure you they would have left him alone.
Never worked for me.
On the other hand, I just learned to live with it, I didn't go around murdering people. Being picked on isn't an excuse.
