Police search for Michigan woman abducted from gas station

Michigan police believe a missing 25-year-old gas station clerk was kidnapped Friday night as she finished her shift.

The police are asking for the public's help finding a 25-year-old woman who apparently was abducted while working at a gas station in western Michigan on Friday night.

Jessica Heeringa has been missing since she disappeared while working the late shift at an Exxon station in Norton Shores, a town of about 22,000 on Lake Michigan, WOODTV.com reported

Norton Shores Police Chief Daniel Shaw told the station Monday morning that police are looking for a gray or silver minivan that was seen near the gas station around the time Heeringa disappeared. He said a witness saw a white male with broad shoulders and a stocky build driving the car.

Shaw said the information from the witness, the fact that nothing was disturbed in the store and evidence gathered from behind the Exxon store led police to investigate the situation as an abduction, rather than a missing person case. He also noted there were no signs of a struggle in the store and pleaded with members of the public to come forward with information.

“We really need more information from the public, anyone who has seen anything,” Shaw said. "You may have that piece of information we need...We're desperately looking for additional information.” –

Police were summoned to the gas station around 11:15 p.m. Friday when customers called to report that the gas station's store was unattended. Heeringa, who was scheduled to get off work at 11:30 p.m., was nowhere to be found and her purse and belongings had been left behind, WOODTV.com said. Cleaning supplies she normally used at the end of her shift were found as well.

"We just hope she's OK and that she'll come home," Heeringa's fiance, Dakota Quail-Dyer, told WOODTV.com. "We miss her and love, we need her home."

The station said Quail-Dyer and Heeringa have been together for five years, share a son and are engaged to be married.
