Derek Medina, who allegedly posted a photo of his wife's body on Facebook after killing her, turned himself in to authorities on Aug. 8 and confessed to the slaying, police said.
The picture showed his 26-year-old’s wife, Jennifer Alfonso, slumped on the kitchen floor of the townhouse they shared.
She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, a Miami Dade police report said.
Police said Alfonso’s 10-year-old daughter was found unharmed at the scene, but have not revealed whether she witnessed the murder.
Medina, who wrote several books dedicated to his wife - including one called “How I Saved Someone’s Life and Marriage and Family Problems Thru Communication” - told police he shot his wife after she tried to leave him, NBC Miami reported.
Court records show that the couple, who friends told the station had met at the Denny’s where Alfonso worked, had already divorced once, before they remarried in 2012.
According to the affidavit he claimed that during the course of the argument Alfonso threatened him with a knife, but he was able to disarm her.
But when she began punching him again the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Medina, said he shot her.
