President Barack Obama arrived in St. Petersburg, Russia, early on Thursday for a two-day meeting of G-20 world leaders that was expected to be overshadowed by the continuing crisis in Syria. Arrest made in shooting of New Orleans 1-year-old
Police in New Orleans have arrested a 24-year-old man and booked him on suspicion of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Londyn Samuels, a 1-year-old girl who was killed when a bullet pierced the back of her 18-year-old nanny and struck the toddler. The man, identified as Keelen Armstrong, was also held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder. Read it at NBC News.

A family in suburban Boston are taking their fight to remove the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance to court, arguing that the phrase is alienating to atheists. Boston Marathon bombing survivor pens memoir
A man who lost both his legs in the April bombings and was caught in a photograph being carried from the scene has signed a book deal to publish his memoir 'Stronger.' New Hampshire native Jeff Bauman, 27, inked the deal with Grand Central Publishing, and the book is due out in April 2014. Read more at TODAY.
Two probes launched in kidnapper Ariel Castro's suicide
The death of the Cleveland kidnapper and rapist who hanged himself with a bed sheet will be subjected to two investigations, according to officials: one into the suicide itself and another into the man's circumstances in the days before his death. Ariel Castro was sentenced to life plus 1,000 years after pleading guilty to the kidnapping of three women he held in his home for a decade. Read it at NBC News.
