Four men were arrested in Louisiana in connection with the theft of 63 AR-15 rifles that were en route from Connecticut to a shipping facility in Shreveport. Cameron Johnson.

Among those arrested was 21-year-old Cameron Johnson, a security guard who was on duty when the guns arrived at the facility, the sheriff’s office said in a release. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for theft of a firearm after being interviewed by investigators, according to the release.

Shipping company Con-way Freight contacted authorities on Oct. 15 after the black, semi-automatic rifles valued at $800 a piece were discovered missing, according to the release from the sheriff’s office. The guns were on one of five pallets that had been shipped from Hartford, Conn., and arrived at the Louisiana shipping facility on Oct. 12.

The other men arrested were identified as Luther M. Williams, Jr., 22; James D. Minor, Jr., 44; and David McNeil, 31. None of the men arrested was an employee of Con-way, the sheriff’s release stated.

McNeil was arrested after Caddo Sheriff’s detectives along with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives searched his home on Oct. 17. They did not find any weapons, according to the release, but did turn up a 65-inch television that was allegedly stolen from the Con-way facility on the same day as the guns.

It is possible that gun buyers may have unwittingly purchased one of the stolen AR-15s, Lt. Bill Rehak with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s office said.
