Police say four dead in murder-suicide in Southern California

UPDATE:  After a husband killed his wife then took his own life in Simi Valley, police identified the deceased Tuesday, Dec. 31, as Jason Hampton, 42, and April Everts-Hampton, 30. A motive has not been determined in the tragedy which police have determined was a murder-suicide, according to the Simi Valley Police Department.

Police obtained a search warrant overnight and are continuing the investigation into the death of four people, including two children, at a Fontana, Calif., home Monday night

Police found four bodies inside a home in the 7300 block of Palmetto Avenue, after they received a call from a 16-year-old male juvenile who told police that his family members had been injured or possibly killed in the house, according to Fontana police Sgt. Doug Imhof.

"We located four bodies, two children, a female about 12 years old, a male about 10 years old, a female victim adult 35 to 40 (years old) and a male about the same age," Imhof said. "It appears as though they all lived there."

Though police haven't been able to fully identify the bodies, family members at the scene said the four bodies were that of a family, including a father, mother and two children. Police said more than one weapon was found inside the home.

Neighbors said they heard screaming, and possible gunshots around 10 p.m. Neighbors said the discovery is shocking and scary, especially in such a quiet neighborhood.

Fontana is about 50 miles east of downtown LA in San Bernardino County.
