The FBI has tracked the cell phone of a Burbank, Ill., man suspected of killing his new bride to the Texas-Mexico border.

A federal warrant was issued Thursday for the arrest of 30-year-old Arnoldo Jimenez.

Jimenez was born in Texas and owns property in Pharr, Texas, according to a federal criminal complaint and attached affidavit. He has relatives in North Carolina, and his parents live in Mexico.

Estrella Carrera was still in her wedding dress when she was found stabbed to death in the bathtub of her apartment on Sunday, two days after the pair were married in a City Hall ceremony, officials said. Jimenez disappeared.

Law enforcement said they tracked his cell phone from the Chicago area to an area near Memphis, Tenn., through Arkansas, to Houston, Texas, and finally to Hidalgo, Texas, at 10:45 p.m. on Monday.

His sister told police Jimenez called her and said he and Carrera had a bad fight and he left her bleeding, the affidavit said. Authorities said the couple were last seen at about 4 a.m. Saturday following a post-wedding celebration at a Chicago nightclub.

Jimenez told another close associate that he was leaving Illinois and the associate should tell police he has fled to Mexico.

Carrera, 26, is the mother of two children. Jimenez is the father of the youngest, a 2-year-old boy, the victim's family said.

Jimenez, according to officials, was last known to be driving a black, four-door 2006 Maserati with Illinois license plates.

Just two days after her wedding, Estrella Carrera, 25, was found stabbed to death in her own bathtub. She was still in the dress she wore at her wedding reception. WMAQ-TV's Lauren Jiggetts reports.

Relative: Groom had 'bad fight' with bride found in bathtub

    By NBCChicago.com

The sister of a Burbank, Ill., bride found stabbed to death in her apartment over the weekend said her new brother-in-law called a relative on the day the body was found to report he'd left his new wife bleeding after a "bad fight."

Estrella Carrera's body was found Sunday, two days after a hastily-planned City Hall wedding. Her new husband, 30-year-old Arnoldo Jimenez, disappeared, but not before reportedly placing a call to his sister.

"She said that he was crying and he was really nervous," explained Jazmin Carrera, the bride's sister, of the phone call. "He said they had a really bad fight and he had left her bleeding."

Police said they're aware of the reported phone call and are looking into it. A warrant was issued Tuesday for Jimenez's arrest.

Authorities are pleading with Jimenez to turn himself in "for the sake of his family and especially his children,'' said Burbank police Capt. Joseph Ford. "I am sure they are very concerned for his well-being."

Most of the bride's family disapproved of her relationship with Jimenez, who is the father of one of Carrera's children, a 2-year-old boy. Jimenez had hit and bruised her sister in the past, Jazmin Carrera told the Associated Press.

Ford said Jimenez was previously arrested for domestic violence in another city in a case that did not involve Carrera. Police don't know what Jimenez does for a living, although he was last known to be driving a black 2006 Maserati, an expensive car.

"We do not believe Jimenez is a danger to others, but we certainly do not know his mind frame at the present time," Ford told the AP.

Since the killing likely took place mere hours after the couple went to Carrera's Burbank apartment, the suspect had a day to flee the metropolitan area or even the state before the body was found, Ford said.

"It was a very brutal killing," Ford said. "We do our jobs every day, of course. But something like this really motivates you to work even harder."

Burbank, Ill., police are on the hunt for the husband of a newlywed woman found stabbed to death in her bathtub over the weekend.

Arnoldo Jimenez, 30, and Estrella Carrera, 26, were married on Friday, just two days before Carerra's body was found by authorities during a search prompted by worried family members.

Jimenez hasn't been seen since, officials said. A Cook County judge issued a warrant for his arrest on Tuesday.

Following a City Hall wedding ceremony, the newlyweds rented a party limo and celebrated their new union with a group of friends and family, ending the evening at a night club on the north side of Chicago, officials said.

The pair were last seen together at about 4 a.m. Saturday, officials said. Roughly 36 hours later, Carerra's body was found. Officials confirmed she was still wearing her silver-sequined wedding dress.

"It was a very brutal killing," Capt. Joseph Ford of the Burbank Police Department told The Associated Press Tuesday. "We do our jobs every day, of course. But something like this really motivates you to work even harder."

Investigators said there were no signs of forced entry into the bride's apartment.

Jimenez was known to be driving a black, four-door 2006 Maserati with Illinois license plates. According to The Associated Press, he had tried to keep the impending wedding secret from most of Carrera's family.

Carerra called one of her cousins, Sandy Lopez, and invited her to the party but said nothing about a wedding, The Associated Press reported.

"She didn't want to tell me she had gotten married," she said. "She didn't tell anybody besides her father the day before."

The couple had reportedly been dating for two years prior to getting married. Carrera had two children, aged two and nine.

A dead wife, missing husband, secret wedding, luxury car. Anyone else think this sounds like an episode of "Weeds"? This totally sounds drug related.
