Subscribe to RSSNEW YORK -- The burned, naked body found on a beach Sunday has been identified as a missing 14-year-old girl.
Law enforcement sources told NBC New York on Tuesday that the body found in Gerritsen Beach in Brooklyn was Shaniesha Forbes, who had been missing since Friday.
She was burned on her legs, arms and hands and was found face up on the beach. A law enforcement official told NBC New York that investigators also located a kerosene can and signs of a bonfire nearby.
The cause of death is still pending.
